I got a hair straightener and a heartfelt card, but the majority of the day was spent caring for my dementia-addled grandmother (spoon-feeding, etc.) while my mom was working. I also had some chocolate cake later on.
Not nearly the "Sweet 16" I had dreamed of in years past, but I'm still grateful given our situation. So here's a question for you: Have you ever had a lame birthday? If so, what specifically was lame about it?

1 ReplyMy 21st was lame. Nobody remembered, ate all three meals alone, and pretty much didn't talk to anyone.
-
2 RepliesYou got a hair straightener... Freaking lol

My birthday is just another day at this point.

I've never had a birthday party that I can remember. My parents had 3 kids in one year and things like birthdays didn't matter much. My 18th birthday was probably the best I had. Some of my friends showed up and we sat around awkwardly for a bit. Kinda had a party when the pizza came.

4 RepliesI'm sorry to hear that. Maybe next time invite your friends? That's fun.
-
No, but I'm glad you did it gladly, that takes heart, especially for those our age.
-
I spent my 18th in a college dorm room doing nothing all day.

1 ReplyWhen I was younger and we reached a point where we could not do very much for my birthdays, I learned to be happy with what I had. Idk, after those years my way of thinking has changed and I don't really care for it anymore. My birthday feels like a normal day, and I don't ask or expect people to do anything.
-
Well, I suppose my last one was kind of lame, but I don't really care about birthdays anymore so whatever.
-
Every birthday since my 11th has been awful. The only gifts I get are ones I buy myself.
-
2 RepliesThey forgot my birthday last year :/ I got nothing

I'm told all the time that my birthdays are lame. If I get a day where I choose everything that goes on.. it's not going to include much more than loafing on the couch and watching tv.

My 14th birthday wasn't lame, but painful. The day before, I ran into a pole and bruised my balls. The next day, I went mini golfing with friends. It was REALLY painful.

I had a lame 6th birthday, because nobody came. ):
