I work at a car dealership and everytime I do paperwork for a grey/gray car the car's tag is different is there a correct spelling of the color?

def grey ~ -
“Grey” if you’re a British English speaker. “Gray” if you’re an American English speaker. The reality is that either spelling is correct, and I prefer the British version.
-
If it's a surname I'll spell it as they spell it, but I use 'a' for the color.

kinda like Aluminum and Aluminium, English at its finest, no wonder everyone else hates learning English.
-
I actually know this quite well as my middle name is Grey. In America, it’s gray. Pretty much everywhere else it’s grey.
-
Change it to græy
-
I prefer grey. When I spell it that way, for some reason I picture cool colors. Feels smoother to write, too.

2 RepliesEdited by Phoenix red2596: 7/23/2022 11:29:47 PMThey're both right I believe During my second year of high school I had a computer science class where they had us do stuff with block coding Dumbing it down basically everything is preset for you, you just edit things like color starting position, length, ending position, how long the effect last things like that Well me and my friend had friendly argument over what was right cause the code took both Grey and gray

For me? Gray, I'm not bri'ish.
-
Never have I ever seen it written as gray
-
English major here. Both are right. Just be consistent. The purpose of language is communication, so in almost all cases consistency is king.
-
Apparently they are both right gray is American and grey is British
-
I've always used Gray. The a looks better than the e to me.
-
Both are technically correct. It’s that British-English/American-English difference, like color/colour. I personally use grey.
