Here's my reasoning. Given how many pieces are moving around the paverbial board of chess that is the war with the witness, the only huge vacancy I see is Oryx, his personal broods, and his seat of power, the dreadnought. Since this expansion, there have been a dozen lore entries and even Savathun herself hinting and mentioning him and his return for a while but I want to start with Toland. If you go to the moon and speak with Toland, he has a chance to say two pieces of dialogue: That the hidden swarm (crota's brood) is in denial that Oryx is actually dead and say that he faked his death to come back at a later death. Another one he says is that they refuse the leaders of their day (Xivu and Savathun) and that only their leader can restore them to former glory. My second point I'd like to move to is Savathun herself, in the game two truths and two lies. She did say should wouldn't resurrect him but to me, the fact that it's possible is what I focused on. His body is on Saturn and it's common knowledge. His broods have been silent, not gone, and there's no telling what could happen to his body. Also, if anyone remembers, Oryx's body and Rhulks body are VERY similar when they died. Wonder why that is.

Oryx is alive. He’s vibing in the form of Touch of Malice.
-
How are Rhulk’s and Oryx’s bodies in any way similar when they died? Rhulk’s body had Darkness shoot out of it in tendrils. Oryx literally disintegrated

To bring Back Oryx, Necromancy would need to be used....which only Xol and Nokris, and Savathun Know. All dead..... Savathun Temporary. It also Goes against the Sword Logic to bring him back. It would be Heresy. If Kings Fall Comes to D2...It'll be an Non-Cannon like VOG.

3 RepliesExcept Rhulk died. He didn't belive in throneworlds so he died on the pyramid. The art describing rhulks vines are that of a Proboscis Worm, which spits out vines in order to entrap prey. In Marcos case the vines healed his leg but also gave him visions in his mind drowing in bliss and euphoria. The same vines healed rhulk when he fell into the pit on lubrea. He was healed but also influenced. These same vines surrounded rasputin when Ana Bray rescued him in his mindscape. ----- Regarding oryx. The issue I have with that is that he wouldn't want to be brought back. He followed the sword logic. If a stronger being permanently killed him, he had no right to exist in the first place. And this is assuming it would even be possible for him to be brought back which is unlikely. Also oryx is NOT in the touch of malice. The whole point of the weapon was to tell his story to us via the fragments. Immortality of the gun is not referring to oryx himself but rather is philosophy. And he planned for us to take the mantle after his death. Does in literally live in the weapon? No. But symbolically? Yes.

His throne world is gone. Xivu and savathun still had theirs when they died in his throne. When Savathun died, her throne was destroyed. Her Mind cosmos gone.

1 ReplyHe will probably return as the returning raid, bit other than that his return probably won't be Canon. Similar to VOG, bungie said there would be a reason why it returned but in the end they just threw it into the game without an explanation and it has no impact on story or lore.

Edited by Fools Destiny: 7/26/2022 3:19:04 AMKings Fall baby, its comin’ back in Season 18. I don’t know about you but I’ve got a hankering for some Chicken Feet
-
I -blam!- hope not. I’m so tired of Bungie just rehashing characters.

3 Repliesoryx said "he loves a good death" or something like that. most certainly is, coming back. something tells me that his endlesss loop of being recycled is like ours.
-
5 RepliesHe’s dead dead. His throne world collapsed when we killed him. He isn’t coming back.
-
4 RepliesHis body is not ON Saturn. There is nothing ON Saturn. It’s a giant ball of hot GAS. If anything his body fell INTO Saturn and disintegrated in the hot gas. Oh, and also his literal heart was destroyed when the Cabal destroyed our vaults in the Red War

Don't let the "we killed him in the throne world" dissuade you, he's probably already walking among us, as another form, another shape...maybe someone we know. Thing is, his definition, is a scary thing. -
He’s out there somewhere Touch of malice be missing And the gun talked
of course Eris could be hiding it but still, no mention of the man in the wall… I mean gun
4 RepliesProblem we killed oryx in his throne world plus his heart is also destroyed thanks to the red war

Edited by Shockwave 989: 7/23/2022 12:53:47 PMHighly unlikely and entirely unnecessary. The Witness has no need for Oryx and the Hive have long since moved on after the thorough extermination of Oryx’s bloodline at the hands of Savathûn and the Guardians. In fact, with how fractured the Hive have become in the wake of Savathûn’s heresy, to resurrect Oryx against the Sword Logic would only further split what remains under Xivu’s command. The most relevance I see coming out of the Taken King is his seat of power, the Dreadnought. While he is dead and his Throne is rent asunder, his ship is still a powerful war ship that might be a valuable resource for Xivu Arath. In the same way you must consider the words of Savathûn’s through the lens of deception, you must also view the words of the Hidden Swarm through the lens of desperation.

Why do you think Oryx and Rhulk were the same when they died?, I have seen both and didn't see any similarities But the Light coming in the picture completely changed what's possible with the Hive , his heart still beats in the Touch Of Malice, and that is all a ghost would need ,Oryx,The Risen King, wouldn't explain KF coming back, but we also fight Savathun even though she is on our side, so who knows ? -

I just hope if Kings Fall is coming back bungie will give some kind of incentive to keep running it. In D1 the weapons were average at best and the armor well it looked awful for the most part. And in D2 raid armor means nothing unless you are using raid mods. So, unless bungie improves the loot from this new version Kings Fall by a good amount, I dont see the raid lasting very long. Also, if Touch of Malice is returning, this weapon will more than likely come from a quest via crafting or something of that sort, because having it drop as a random drop wouldnt make sense. This is because the weapon is made from parts of oryx and the other raid bosses and then the weapon has to be forged/assembled. So, it wouldnt make any sense if it was a random drop. So, the raid exotic doesnt have retention because it may take 1 to 2 runs depending on how it will work. It might take more who knows. People may not like the crappy* vex mythoclast drop rate, but it keeps you coming back. In the end I just hope there will be good player retention in Kings Fall if it returns. In D1 once i got my Touch of Malice there was little to no point in running the raid anymore. Until age of triumph came around of course😊.
