So, I'm not the first average crucible K/D 'Johnny-Day-Job' to suggest this, but I'll say it again for the sweaty bois in the back:
PVP is downright oppressive for new lights.
ESPECIALLY on "Rift" weekend when trials isn't active. Literally unplayable. Let's be honest, Trials teams steamrolling new lights is bad for everyone. No amount of loot will convince people to submit to that.
Again, this may have been answered before and if so, excuse my ignorance...
But why do we not do connection matchmaking for Trials (where the streamers belong) and Skill Based MM for everything else PVP? I would gladly wait an extra 35 seconds to actually have a chance for my little brother/new friend/blueberry to actually improve instead of getting seemingly one tapped, steamrolled, and mercied without any feedback within 1:30.
Idk, I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but, I'd love to know why we can't have both.

Edited by ξgøBιadεr: 7/20/2022 4:06:47 AMI am at many stats of PvP in the 0,1 to 4,0% on destinytracker. But even for me some games are impossible to win when I am solo or in 2 stack playing controll or iron banana. It's not only something that hits newlight or bad pvp player. But those uneven matches are no part of the matchmaking, it's about how the game splits the people when it found the 12 player. I mean I have so many lobbies with just solos and 2 man squads. Why even then the game makes the most times matches with around 70% winrate + for one side?

2 RepliesHonestly, freelance felt good this week…. Saw what was going on in the regular IB playlist and was all F That Noise! Did I still get steamrolled in Freelance? Sure, but you know it wasn’t because of a super stack. 😅 plus the connections were so smooth in the games I played in freelance.

1 ReplyHigher skilled players feel the opinions of anyone below their skill don't matter (they don't to Bungie, but they SHOULD). Elites don't like to sweat outside trials against people significantly better than them and neither do noobs. Having gotten gud doesn't mean you've earned the right to not have to via Bungie dropping noobs in your lap.

4 RepliesStop playing PVP entirely, nothing else will be noticed. Bungie funnels new customers into PVP to be cannon fodder for their pet streamers (totes not 1099 or kicking back, allegedly...) to advertise the product :| Posting here is entirely ignored, prove me wrong. Vote with your feet.

2 RepliesIt is an issue that is far beyond the range of skill levels playing each other.. The games weapon pool is so far out of whack that finding a place in PvP is beyond punishing until you except the very shallow pool of viable weapons. On top of that issue is the free damage buffs that lead to easy kill perks that then leads into a match being snowballed into the messes we currently have. What it takes to get a viable build/load out to go into PvP, AND while you have to give it your all, is brutal unless you are just highly skilled. Then the cherry on top of it all.. Gaming is about muscle memory, reactions and approach. When said mode is never refreshed, maps are stale and the op meta keeps changing… You have players that do not even have to be looking at a corner to pick up an easy kill. They just know where players are at all times and prefire if they see red on the radar. 100% this game is beyond brutal on new or returning players and I honestly never see it changing. And as bungie keeps putting more and more paywalls in this game per the loot… I would never recommend this game to any friend of mine that used to play it.

8 RepliesI've commented on a similar topic already - my 1st ever pvp match was against guys with over a million kills in Crucible. Do I really need to say more? Completely insane.

Pvp in any game is daunting for new players thats just life. Level up get weapons and gear and watch streamers/youtube etc for tips before practicing in the crucible. I quite often solo cue and get nothing but neg kd people on my team. Do I abuse them? No I use this time to challenge and improve myself and try to offer helpful tips in team chat. Not many people are good straight away it takes time and patience and pvp is not for everyone.

There is a freelance Playlist for solo players. If you don't want to face teams I suggest you go there. -
3 RepliesJust to be clear you wouldn't have to wait 35 seconds longer. This is the illusion of naming something CBMM. The only extra wait times are for those way outside the bulk of players around the middle of the bell-curve. And even they don't get faster connections per se, but it simply fills up that pool with players outside and below their league. Which is double what they want: exploitative queue jumping and players to farm. Why it's was changed was largely down to coordinated social media campaigns and threats by Streamer-YouTubers.

Yeah, the game in general is not kind to new players. Some people have been playing Destiny (and almost only Destiny) for like 10 years now This isn’t as easy to jump into as CoD, where the learning curve is much lower, and also has bot lobbies you can join to practice. Sure, you can practice against dregs, I guess most Destiny players aren’t much better anyway

2 RepliesEdited by A_mo: 7/15/2022 5:06:58 PMIf trials is going to be the only thing that has connection based or that people think has what they think of as connection based then the trials population will shrink over time. People need to have the option to stay engaged with the game throughout the whole week regardless of their skill level or what kind of matchmaking allows them to have the kind of experience they're looking for. As far as the whole of PvP feeling oppressive to New Lights its very hard to pretend like nothing over this last year was done to make PvP easier for newer or lower skilled players. Its fine if that's what it looks like to the people playing the game but its not going to help if 100% of everyone involved with PvP convince themselves that that's the case. This game definitely needs a clearly identified SBMM playlist and if it can't be clearly identified as such then that's a problem. It should also have a clearly identified daily alternative to that because to not have one is to ignore the fact that some people get an unacceptable experience in terms of gameplay quality when its SBMM. Some of those people are actually people that think they want it (or things that are similarly stat influenced) and the game needs to be set up based more on what it actually does and not what people think it does.
