After the last mission of this Season I realized that I'm getting bored of us winning against the enemies of the Last City constantly.
Bungie introduced the idea that Calus was trying to become one with the Pyramid on the Moon and using it to attack. That mental image got me so excited to see it happen and fight it! Unfortunately I quickly remembered that we can't lose so we were never going to see Calus become one with the Black Fleet.
We had this issue of us not being able to lose waaay back in Season of the Worthy (?, the one with The Almighty crashing to Earth). We had to do an insane amount of that Season's public event to make enough Rasputin Satellites so that Raspy could destroy The Almighty. We were underperforming so much that Bungie had to either reduce or multiply our completions of that event so the Season could end with us saving the City.
What if we hadn't done it? Would the City have been destroyed along with the Traveler potentially? We'll never know because we can't lose for the sake of the story. What if we lost the Sundial to the Psions, the Devil Splicers completely mastered SIVA, if we didn't destroy Savathun's Taken Hydra in time?
Letting us lose from time to time doesn't mean it's all over, allowing us to lose lets us have to deal with those consequences later. Lightfall seems to point to us losing but will Bungie really have the guts to let the Last City be destroyed or the Traveler destroyed or gone? I honestly don't know if Destiny 2's potential "Infinity War" will have what it takes to let us lose before it's "Endgame".
What do you folks think about this? Are you ok with us winning all the time or has it gotten old for you as well? I'd love to discuss this topic.

That was really the whole point of Forsaken , to knock us down a peg or 2 But now we are -blam!- unbeatable gods again , and a perfect character is boring(see Rey in the Star Wars Sequal Trilogy) We need to screw up once In a while, like what if we got someone killed and was banned from the Tower for a season , so we had to go to an alternate social space like the Farm or Iron Temple, and had to do things to regain the Vanguards trust
