Everyone likes the idea of change, but many don’t like the reality of it. With respect you are so focused on what has been “taken away” that you have little energy to see what has been added. I have the quirk that I was born without the gene for nostalgia. D1 was never as good as many claim to remember, and D2 isn’t as bad as many of you want to insist. All in all D2 is a vastly better game that D1 ever was. But D2 isn’t trying to please everyone, and it is no longer a blank slate with endless “potential” for people to project their hopes onto. Much of D1s appeal was the hope of what it might become. While D2 is a largely know quantity.

 •
Much of D1s appeal was the hope of what it might become
Well said. As a day 1 Destiny player I certainly used to feel that way.

 • I can see where you’re coming from, but the moment D2 existed I already knew it was a different game and I actually liked it back then since crucible was stable before any of the DLCs came out. I just think BUNGiE has been focusing on the small aspects of the game more often then the game itself at large.

 • Disagree. I think Bungie is focusing on the PVE experience, and has low-key withdrawn support for PvP. Because the model of PVP that they committed to is incompatible with where they want to go with the game in PVE. I keep saying that there is a reckoning coming where PVP in this came is concerned, but Bungie keeps finding new-and-creative ways to kick that can down the road and put it off as long as humanly possible.

 • Mate when I have the kicks to go back and play something that is nostalgic... I literally have no choice or my brain will continue to rot until it is satiated..

 • Which is why I say that I was born without the gene. I just don’t feel that nostalgic for anything. Never have. I understand that it has a powerful pull for some people, but it never has for me.

 • Quite. Luckily in my case it is only a few games but also unluckily only 2 are backwards compatible. So I have to buy an older system that isn't being made anymore :(. Consider yourself very lucky...
