Hello Toast here with my 2 cents on the cross play, cross save dilemma. First a little back story on how I play. When I first played destiny I was on ps4 but now im on pc.
CROSS PLAY
Cross play isn't working out to well right now. It's extremely buggy and laggy sometimes. But it also allows me to play with old friends on console. But why isn't it working right? Well I have ideas why...
1. The destiny engine is a very old engine and luckly modified engine. But this in not enough as tech ages much faster then we do a 10 year old computer that has been kept in tip top shape has the same performances as a 30 year old car left out in the rain. Tech advances extremely quickly so things become obsolete fast.
2. P2P connections are outdated without a doubt (I think it's over 30 years old, don't quote me on that though)(just googled it started in 1979 and was popularized in 1999). What destiny needs is dedicated servers as they are far superior then P2P.
3. Console, Playstation and Xbox don't pair well (and they might not ever) they run on completely different hardware and software so they don't mesh well. Xbox and PC can run together just fine in alot of cases but playstation is what usely causes problems.
CROSS SAVE
Works wonders lets me play on my pc with my old playstation guardians.
CONCLUSION
1. We need to be able to toggle cross play on and off.
2. D2 needs some upgrades (engine and the addition of servers)
3. Xbox and Playstation needs to do stuff on there end (mainly Playstation)
Hopefully my point got across and I shed some light on why it isn't working and how it could be Improved. And I know im not the first person to make these points.
Thank you for reading with love from a wet Toaster.... :)
