CBMM
- better connections
- more variety of matches (stomping, getting stomped and everything in between)
- opportunity to learn from players above your skill bracket (including the very best)
SBMM
- evenly matched
- a more predictable experience (less likely to be stomping or getting stomped)
- opportunity to learn within skill bracket and gradually face better opponents as you improve
Be cool in your replies - it’s fine to like different things 👍

3 RepliesEdited by ben: 7/6/2022 9:52:07 AMDifferent mm for different modes. Make normal 6v6 CBMM, and then have SBMM in rumble, survival, and iron banner. Connection based in the big team mode, skill based in modes with smaller lobbies where A. games are more competitive, making it more realistic for these to be modes to play to improve and B. there are less people to stuff into a lobby meaning prioritizing skill without comprimising connections is more reasonable than in 6v6. Doesnt seem super complicated to me

It’s not the above that’s the problem to be honest; I think different game modes in PvP have an element of one or the other. The poll which I believe Bungie should read would be to improve PvP; either Bungie disable cross play altogether for console users or try improve the service they are currently running for both console families. -
3 RepliesNone. I want a system on par with other shooters matchmaking systems.
-
7 RepliesI would vote for neither : should have polled for NO LAG Cross-platform IMO
-
1 ReplyHow about both as a matchmaking choice for players

3 RepliesMy suggestion to low skill players is to avoid PvP. I play it everyday and it’s a sweat fest. For myself I like the competition so I play sweaty. When my KDA drops below my seasonal average I check my opponent’s and most times theirs dropped as well hence a lot back out before the next match starts. It was too sweaty for them. If you want change leave the mode as it is and soon even the good players will be in here griping about how the mode is not fun and every match is like SBMM to them……reason: because there are only sweats left playing in the mode. They begged for CBMM and got it. 🤷♂️

Edited by NYDIBS: 7/4/2022 7:06:20 PMIt doesn’t matter, this community is just pathetic My experience playing with my destiny friends: Me: gets upset bc we’re losing bc nobody will cap zones with me Them: get upset bc the other team kills them a few times, back out of the match Kd means so little in this game, and there’s so many ways to stat pad that I just don’t understand. Your kda even resets every season

6 RepliesIt's wild people who barely play pvp want sbmm to not play pvp.... They cry for sbmm but avoid sbmm playlists like the plague.

1 ReplyEdited by Meaga: 7/4/2022 12:37:37 PMMy take on this: CBMM is by far better for destiny, it helps alleviate the cheese every game. BUT A LOOSE SBMM bracket could be very beneficial. Top, middle, and bottom. Top matches > Top and middle Middle matches > Top, middle and bottom Bottom matches > bottom and middle Protect .7s from top 500s while being loose enough for everyone to have fun. This community also has major attitude issues with loosing, that’s another conversation though. Edit: Lobby also would be removed in this case, it’s a HUGE hassle and I’m sick of having to backpack teams. It’s not fun, and I refuse to load into 6s because it’s a 1v6 against fusions every game.

2 RepliesEdited by The icon of sin: 7/4/2022 12:24:19 PMYou forgot to add lag to sbmm. Every match is a sweaty meta tournament, cant have fun amd experiment.
-
1 ReplyI still get the occasional lag fest with CBMM with 500 down 100 up internet, but I’d much rather play people on a similar skill set as me than rolling over the opposite team and vice versa

I would want SBMM if it was actually good in D2. When we actually had it/do in some gamemodes, it is still extremely hit or miss. It's so boring having every match end in a mercy

Edited by DHawk12: 7/1/2022 7:01:45 PMWith dedicated servers and tiered progression, sbmm is better. Without both those things then cbmm is better. Since D2 will probably never have dedicated servers and the non-existence of a pvp game with sbmm that also has tiered progression, I always favor cbmm. Forcing an even playing field both skill wise and connection wise with a “modifier” that scales progression based on skill is the only truly fair matchmaking system.

4 RepliesCBMM for quickplay SBMM for survival
-
3 RepliesThe problem is people seriously playing Destiny 2 for a competitive, balance pvp experience.
-
1 ReplyRegardless of whichever is implemented - people will complain.
-
2 RepliesSo as of today, June 1st, the results are ~ : 40% CBMM 60% SBMM Sizeable percentages for CBMM but a clear winner and significant majority wanting SBMM to return.
-
2 RepliesSBMM is becoming industry-standard.
-
want to complete bounties at least. but permanent mayhem and momentum control is at least fun.
-
3 Repliesyou are making a pool for cbmm or sbmm in a forum filled with terrible pvp players lol

CBMM is garbage! I’m always queuing players way outside my skill range, getting stomped, & learning nothing! Implements SBMM:Still gets stomped by players within your range because accountably doesn’t exist.
Bro, there’s plenty of opportunity to excel & grow, if not more-so, within CBMM. You’re just not as good as you think you are; always looking to pass the blame.
- opportunity to learn from players above your skill bracket (including the very best)
I never understood this argument for CBMM. What do you learn from getting killed by players that are better than you?
-
Either one is fine. Just get rid of mercy rule and breaking up the teams. Allow people to leave the lobby on their own. It's difficult to know what load out is working or not when it's abruptly a tough match or an easy match that ends too soon. Mix the teams up instead of making a new lobby of players.

1 ReplyI want M&M. Mmm, chocolate...
