Restricted Account???…

I woke up this morning to my account restricted to matchmaking activities. I did receive a warning a few weeks ago that there was concern and I address it. The next day I went out and bought a new modem, updated my internet service to “extreme speed” at up to 600 mps and I am getting over 20 mps upload. I have never seen any connection issues except the occasional hang time in orbit before going into an activity or my character not totally loading in once I drop in the tower but nothing to the extreme. I have NEVER had any issues before and now all the sudden I am being restricted. I have even recorded my playtime on several occasions and looking back have never seen issues. It would be helpful if they told you exactly what has been reported or what issues they have so I can rectify them. I have submitted an appeal but by reading through some of these it doesn’t look like anyone is hardly contacted back. 😞

  • Hello there, The reasons that can cause a restriction can be found here: Why was I Restricted? Restrictions for Connections: The 1st restriction is for 2 weeks Each additional will be 2 months If you believe the restriction was placed in error, feel free to submit an appeal on this Page. Please read all the info on the page before submitting the form at the bottom. The form is for appeals only, they do not answer questions as to why or how long.
Requests for additional information, such as the length of a restriction or reason for a ban, will be disregarded. Here are some suggestions that may help with connection issues:

1. Use a wired connection rather than Wi-Fi 2. Quit any program or turn off other devices that are streaming 3. Clear your console cache or, if on PC, verify the integrity of your game files. 4. Power cycle your internet router 5. Improve your latency and packet loss 6. Follow the Network Troubleshooting Guide for best optimizing your connection to Destiny. If issues persist, try the Advanced Steps Networking Guide for possible router solutions, such as enabling UPnP or changing your NAT type. 7. Enable IPV6 on your router to see if that helps

• You'll get the restriction only if u play trials in the console playlist. I'm from ps5, It worked for me and many others. (We made many tests) I stopped playing trials and I have hundreads matches on every other activity. They'll never fix the problem. In this forum you'll only find people with 0,50 kd who will make fun of you. That's sad. Real assistance don't exist for Destiny.

      • 600 download but only 20 upload? That is a bottleneck and a half if I ever seen one

        • In addition to what TuxyDoh said; Restrictions are not placed due to reports alone, so a group of people trying to abuse the report system would not lead to a Restriction unless one or more of the reports was deemed valid after Bungie investigates the reports. Specifically getting a 2 week/2 month restriction from matchmaking playlists is due to connection problems between your device and the servers that causes a problem for other players who end up in the match with you (they see you jumping around from lag, making it hard to attack you or avoid your attacks, etc). Those problems can be directly on your end, such as your local network having a malfunctioning router or your device's ethernet/wifi hardware having an issue (wifi tends to be a big culprit for people that don't have their router in the same room as their device). Those problems can also be outside of your local network, such as your ISP's network hardware having a bottleneck somewhere that increases latency or packet loss, or even beyond what your ISP has control over, to one of the many random hops between your ISP's last router and the end point. Please note that 'fast internet' does not always mean 'good internet'. Destiny 2 does not require extraordinary speeds, just a good connection. You've already taken some troubleshooting steps in checking your local network by getting a new modem. If the issue happened suddenly and nothing changed on your end directly prior to the connection issues being reported, then it's possible your ISP may have either started throttling your connection or there may be another external source causing issues. Please note that since you specifically mentioned WiFi in your post, if you recently got a new other device or hardware in your house (like a new Microwave, a wireless phone, or a multitude of other electronics), or you increased the number of devices connected to your router, that that new thing might be causing interference with your WiFi connection or network connection. I'd suggest contacting your ISP while playing the game and having them run whatever troubleshooting checks they can do to see if you're dropping any data to wherever they test from. If they notice no issues, then unfortunately, the problem is outside of where you or your ISP can work on and you'll need to wait until whoever owns the offending equipment notices it and fixes the issue. Continuing to play match-made activities with a bad connection will continue to result in restrictions.

Im gonna be in the same boat soon… however, the simple fact that there are no more permanent restrictions which was Strike 3 (Strike 2 repeats aka 2 months) ought to tell everyone Bungie knows and just ain’t doing squat about the the server issues. My theory, after Final Shape and it’s 4 seasons Bungie is off the Destiny project moving to the next game
