I am not a young man anymore, my reflexes and eye sight have deteriorated. Yet, I like playing PvP - on my level. However, with every iteration of PvP, Bungie is denying this more to players like me.
- SBMM got removed, forcing me into matches with far better players
- Super energy is primarily given if you damage or kill players, making it very hard to get ability kills for me
- I am not even gonna start about the gross imbalance of many guns. Suros Regime vs. Dead Man's Tale? LOL. Anything against a good hand cannon? ROFL.
Despite of what you think, wielding a "hand cannon" in a computer game doesn't make you a great marksman. It may just make you a great "point and click" man ... or kid.
I could do without PvP if you didn't have to play it for certain catalysts or for pinnacle gear.
Calling PvP "competitive" and then placing players way out of their league has nothing to do with competitive. Soccer players from the amateur league aren't pitted against premier league players either, or are they?
Bungie, your thought- and mindless "competetive" ePenis attitude just sucks.
As it is now, I will have to give up on masterworking certain catalysts and I will just sit through the 3 PvP matches per week and char that will give me pinnacle loot. If that is what you want, Bungie: Players just idling through the crucible - so be it. I will also just give up on Iron Banner. Maybe you don't care about people like me, but I am not the only one thinking like that. You are actually crapping on a part of your customer base here.
May I also remind you that no real values are involved here. This is just a computer game with virtual assets that have no real world value. I am also having a PvE focus in Destiny. I wouldn't not bother with PvP at all if Bungie had left me an alternative.
May I also add that people who are seriously into competitive computer gaming do not play Destiny. They play better games with better balance, better scoring, better servers and better anti cheat measures. That's a reason why I cannot even ask my son to do such quests for me. He just thinks Destiny sucks. He has master rank in Apex Legends now.
So this is a request to put things right here and give worse players like me a chance to fulfill PvP related quests. You should at least introduce an option where I can chose whether I want skill or connection based MM. I know, Bungie has always had a hard time letting players make their own decisions on how to play "their" game, but how about a change of mind here.

The only real option seems to be to make clearly defined separate playlists that cater to different peoples' ideas of what "competitive" means. I know that for me there's nothing competitive about the game breathing down your neck deciding when you can and can't do damage the way it does when its SBMM, and other kinds of matchmaking. There's also a problem with a lot of people wanting an environment that's conducive to completing catalysts whenever they want to complete them because some of those catalysts are just going to make it so you aren't really contributing to the outcome in the way you may be otherwise. Which is another reason for a separate playlist that's more set up for things like that. Its very rare that doing a catalyst and trying to win a match end up being the same thing. Then on top of everything both of us have described you still get players that get to run around doing whatever they want in pretty much every match while other people don't have shot registration or are in lobbies that maybe they shouldn't be in. And generally those players are living off stats that got that way by doing something that shouldn't really have anything to do with that match or maybe even that playlist. It hasn't been that bad in IB for me this week, but control has pretty much been unplayable 9 out of 10 times I've tried to play it this season. It would be nice to at least have a choice between the two types of matchmaking. Although I don't know how exactly that would take peoples' baggage stats into account. But I really think the real solution is to design the playlists with certain clearly defined goals and rewards and in a way that puts players on the same page.

So your old and have problems playing the game. How is this bungies fault? You sound like someone your sons age.
