I'm pretty much a longstanding pve player and casual pvp player in it for the armor and stuff, and my raid buddies are apprehensive to team up, which means I'm solo queueing. However, I am concerned about being randomly matched with cheaters. I don't want to get banned for something that is effectively out of my control (I am keeping an eye on TrialsReport for suspicious stats, but again, I'm a casual and don't know what good/sus stats look like...and leaving midmatch is frowned upon).
TL;DR, will solo-queuers be punished if randomly matched with a cheater and not knowing it? Cause then i might go back to just not playing trials until I can get 2 trustworthy teammates, as it is not worth the risk to me.
Secondary question: If i see suspicious stats in trials report in a matchmade teammate, what should I do?

In addition to what dougcpa said, any time you suspect cheating in game, report it.

Bungie does not ban players who are randomly matched with cheaters. To be banned for playing with a cheater would require you to actually be in the same fireteam. This information is visible to Bungie when they investigate cheaters. As long as you were just randomly matchmade you have nothing to worry about. Plus, playing with a cheater generally requires you to play multiple matches and if you're solo queuing you will likely only see that one player once over playing 8+ hours.
