I'm not sure when exactly in the last couple weeks it stopped working—I've been out of town for a few weeks, and I've been a trackpad guardian on geforce now just to keep up with the plot. I'm pretty bad at being a trackpad guardian, so I've been really looking forward to getting back to playing the game with the setup I'm familiar with. Since the battle.net days, I've been using a steam controller with a program called GloSC, in order to get battle.net to treat my steam controller as a controller. When destiny first moved to steam, it didn't support the steam controller, so I just went ahead and configured GloSC to use the steam version of the game, and everything's continued working through the end season of the splicer. My assumption is that battleye doesn't like me using a virtual controller, but that might be baseless, and in the end the cause doesn't really matter: I can't use my controller the way I'm used to anymore. Based on the last section of https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/48556 it appears that destiny 2 does support the steam controller, so I tried to set up my controller settings directly with destiny 2. While the game does appear to accept keyboard signals coming from my controller, it doesn't accept any controller signals. For example, if I configure my controller to send an escape key, destiny will respond as expected; but if I configure my controller to send a B button, destiny will completely ignore the input. Does anybody have a steam controller currently working with destiny 2? Directly with the game or indirectly using GloSC or similar? If not, what am I "supposed" to do? Like, is there an official bungie stance on what sort of controllers I'm supposed to use or not supposed to use? If I have to "adapt" in order to keep playing this game, what am I supposed to adapt to? Thank you for reading.

  • Got it working! It's been years since last time I had to do this, so I forgot to try toggling steam back and forth between beta mode. Once I did that, the bungie official controller config appeared in the list of "recommended" configs, and I've been able to port my old GloSC config into that one pretty easily. It's not exactly the same, but it's close enough for jazz! One really nice thing about this is that I don't have to use GloSC anymore.
