What a dead game truly looks like.

Spoiler: It's not Destiny 2 I posted this because a friend of mine just asked me why I still play a dead game like Destiny 2. On these forums, you will see posts every now and then about how Destiny 2 is dying. It isn't really. Not even close. While it's true it gets a spike of players at the start of each new season that quickly falls off, and it will never match the heights of players that it had when it first came out, its core player count is holding at healthy levels. Now for a really dead game (franchise, actually), you have to look at the Division series. According to Playercounter.com, Tom Clancys The Division live player count for ALL of the titles in the series combined was 684 players when I checked today. Yes, you did read that right. 684 players, worldwide. In comparison, the Destiny 2 live player count was at 1.1 million at the same time. The count usually hovers in the top 5 to top 10 zone of online players for multiplayer games. For me, this is worth knowing because I am trying to get more people I know to play the game or come back to it again if they played it once before so I can recruit them to my clan. Knowing the game isn't going away any time soon helps that a lot. Even with the new game Outriders coming out, I doubt Destiny 2 will die. So I will continue to invest time into this game because I know that the plans that Bungie has talked about for future expansions are likely to happen. As for The Division 2, a game I liked for a while, I wouldn't go back to it now even though I thought about it lately. With less than 1000 players online in a multiplayer game, it's not going to be around long (even though they announced plans for more add-ons to it recently, which probably will just delay the inevitable demise for a short while). But Destiny 2 will be there even if I take a break from it every now and then because reports of its imminent demise are vastly exaggerated.
