I have had the opportunity to guide a few new players, which in a nutshell, is very hard to explain so much when the game has gone so far already.
Even my closest friends that I hangout with most days, at their actual back over their shoulder tutoring them, is a struggle.
However, though some of my friends have rage quit.. or moved on to new ventures, I continue to find new players who have a knack for it. I have played this game a lot, and helping others seems to be one of the best experiences this game has to offer.
The last guardian that surmised themselves took a moment at a broken truck by the road in the EDZ. As I took a moment after finishing a quest, they happened to be there at the same moment. I poured a neat cup of tea, and asked where they were headed on the road. They reported that they were exploring. I, in turn, told 'em to give me a ring if they got lost, and dispersed back to the Tower.
Later, for the sake of it, I sent a wingman's letter, and *poof*, dropped in hot defending Nessus.
They came in naturally, like a fish dropped from an osprey, back in to the water.
After the show was over,
I lead them to Failsafe to pick up some squares to return as tokens.
Passed em fireteam leader to have the credentials of ownership.
For all intents and purpose, I had my rooster mask on, and went to the best spot to watch their back.
3 golden coins appeared from where-abouts unknown, and figured I'd share.
However, I had disabled my HUD,
and to a fault, I couldn't find them.
I opened the map,
peering for green blips about the way.
I pan a full 360, and there they were.
In my best efforts to keep them in the field, they had been in my shadow.
I felt blinded, realizing that most of what I said went over their head, and shot myself in the foot.
Divising a new plan, I head out in to the country, figured I'd show'd em Cayde's old jumpship, and see what page they were on.
As I was waiting for the Vex mind to show up for a Forge bounty
An event took place, and by the time "shoot down the cabal ship, it'll be heroic", did they send a rocket.
It was awesome, but, there was a key piece missing lost in the sauce.
Most new players don't have a clue how to immerse themselves on to the path they have stumbled across.
With a select choice of words, terrible instruction, and 2 boxes of cheese-itz,
this one became a self-sufficient navigator of the game.
Their skill progressed as we fired in tandem. Leading them through the Red War.
I wasn't just gonna let them get shot in the back, as they had so diligently made sure my own was covered. In the pan, we meshed. Shooting the same target more than twice, and every pair after.
It's times like that, of why I enjoy MMO's, though I'm not sure if they truely understood what was happening.
We never talked, so I truely have no idea who that person is..
..but their talent for being a guardian.
