Why are we sunsetting the weapons that take hours to get. Like python it is so fun and with its low fire rate it isn’t a good pvp weapon so i don’t understand, and 21 delirium come on man it took HOURS.
-
I’ve yet to hear a convincing reason for why. It’s the wrong fix to the wrong problem. I spent more time than I care to admit collecting one of every weapon to suit my personal preference. Some are meta, a few are pinnacle, many are not. They were mine because I spent a lot of time trying endless configurations and drops before I said “this is something that suits my play style/legend” If I want to use those weapons, or even just the same damn one over and over, why is that a problem that needs to be addressed in such a drastic manner?
-
What I don't get is they're capping the light level, not removing them. So activities that don't count light i.e. regular crucible, are still gonna be full of mountaintop, etc?
-
Because if they make really strong weapons, the community whines and complains until they get nerfed and brought down a couple notches because heaven forbid a new weapon outperforms Y1 Midnight Coup..... Sunsetting is what the community gets for refusing to do things the natural way and I think that's beautiful irony.
-
And then they update old weapons (gnawing hunger, bad omens, lonesome) and say that sunsetting is to shake the meta?! Come on
-
So we can get new good guns, without breaking the game. I regularly play Master/GM Nightfalls /Raids / Dungons and it's been the same meta weapon setups for the better part of over a year now. If you're not using the currently "best in class" weapons on a specific NF, then you're putting your team at a deficit. After you've been running these builds for a while, it's time for a change. "Sunsetting" isn't new to Destiny, this happened back in Destiny 1. While I do miss my Fatebringer/Black Hammer, Ghorn setup from Y1, looking back on it, it was the right call to cap those weapons to Y1 power levels. When going through Taken King/Rise of Iron content, I was able to seek new weapons and builds and it had me experimenting with gear that I hadn't normally used. My main concerns at first with sunsetting in D2 were the following : 1. A simpler path to acquire a specific weapon - Bungie has "focus engrams" and game currency to spend to address this. They also did this in S10 with Bunker Bounties, and in S9 with Sundial. 2. Easier ways to farm high stat roll gear - Bungie has addressed this with the new Dungeon and changes for retroactive raid gear farming. 3. Simplicity to the mod system - Bungie announced changes starting in S12 that mod slots will obtain mods over the year, rather than the current +1/-1 rule. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see how they plan on addressing the "reprint" issue that many suggest (having to farm a new version of a weapon when you have the perfect one you like already sitting in your vault), but regardless, allowing a simpler path to obtain specific weapons does help in this. I have already obtained 3 Gnawing Hunger's this season that is the same as my previous (S6) with an alternate 4th perk slot as well. However, I am eager to look forward to having new powerful weapons that will have their time in the spotlight, new builds to experiment and play with for endgame. As soon as these plans were announced, I have been sifting through my vault getting rid of old weapons, replacing some already, and organize what builds I want to use more going forward. I enjoy using Mountaintop (10K kills), Recluse (50k kills), Delirium (8k kills), Wendigo (10k kills), etc as much as the next person, but I am excited to see what new weapons and builds come from all these changes.

They can't come up with a better way to 'mix things up' as it were. Undoubtedly, if the sat down with the community something more tenable for all sides would come up. Thats apparently too much to ask and too much effort however.

Edited by Lore Oradon: 7/16/2020 2:01:26 AMYou mean, Seriously OVERPOWERED Legendary Weapons, that can beat EXOTICS. Y2 Pinnacles were a Big mistake. Edit: Y3 Pinnacles, 🤔, I got no problem with. They are balanced.

You realize all the weapons you get, have taken hours...right? Like I just got a badass ikelos smg yesterday and by your logical, it took me a 7 days, 3-4 hours a day. Or what about my sword that took me 3 weeks? This whole "farming loot takes time" is stupid. Like no shit dude. Thats the entire point of the game. Farm gear so that you can do the same content again, but quicker, in the hopes you get something else to make it quicker. Its not "play until you unlock gun and get to use it forever and ever"
-
Bungie hates it when weapons are good. That’s it.
-
Because Datto
-
Edited by TIME_4_A_WIN: 7/16/2020 4:15:00 PMBungie thinks you play with them to much. Blue weapons are the way forward ;)
-
Because it's time to use something different in Trials/IB instead of the same Mountaintop/Revoker/Beloved, etc.
-
Doesn’t matter how long it took to get, for example mountaintop was incredibly hard to get, yet once you had it, you never needed another kinetic gun, ever, and sunsetting will fix that.
-
They've already mentioned this in twabs. Try to keep up.
-
Because we shouldn't be relying on stuff from 3 years ago. We need a reason to go get new interesting weapons
-
Sunset my gear, sunset my business.
-
For real, bye bye my beloved "Erentil" 😢
-
Cause people that can’t get the good guns or that get killed by the good guns complain about them too much
-
Cause ppl who play "end game" content are tired of using the same gear. Then also cry about the game being to easy... Those are the ppl with the loudest voices as well.
-
Bungie would rather see people use other stuff. And im saying get stuffed. I maybe forced to use my seraph carbine for anti barrier but i will always switch to my braytech winterwolf and hammerhead plus i like my look of my reverie gear set. Not being forced to use somrthing i dont like the look of or comfortable with
-
Because cry babies were crying about pinnacle weapons being too OP. They couldn’t nerf them anymore past the point of ‘fair balance’... So. Sun setting.
-
Because it’s a cheap and easy ploy to make you carry on playing the game to regrind all your weapons again
-
It's simply a huge nerf. Bungie is so afraid of that power creep fairy tale.
-
weapons are too powerfull so they will force you to use crap weapons. rumor has it there is a weapon coming called piece of crap.
-
Edited by Infamous067: 7/16/2020 2:35:19 PMIm fine with how sunset works right now as long as exotics are left alone. Destiny has always been about making builds centered around exotics, these other weapons like mountaintop and recluse made exotics lose value which is not what exotics are about. I had a big issue with how sunsetting worked at the beginning of this season but after trying out the ikelos sniper and the ikelos smg, It was really nice without having to do a specific grind to get them. I personally enjoy being able to earn the engrams through playing any mode I want and then going to the decoder and praying for rng to give me a god rolled weapon that I want. This season has been really good for me

I've already replaced a lot of my old guns with new versions. Stop whining
