Create a new material similar to the Ascendant Shard that is very difficult to attain and requires a lot of grinding but allows the player to bring across the one (or a few) select guns that they consider god rolls and love. For example, I have a Galliard with Kill Clip, Outlaw, High Cal and an SRO-52 scope that I have over 2000 kills in PVP with. This is it's last season. Allow me to be able to carry that to a subsequent season light level using this new material. Put a 3 or 5 weapons per account cap in place. Everyone will stop complaining as long as they can bring one or a few of their favorite guns into subsequent seasons but they will still grind for the new versions. I'd imagine some guns like the Pinnacle weapons would be restricted from this as the intent is to sunset perks not just weapons. But if some weapons are keeping similar rolls, allow them to be buffed to a higher light level cap using the new token/material.

Nah. Everyone's just going to take the caps off their Mountaintops, Beloveds, Mindbenders, Revokers, etc. It's time to use something else in Trials/IB.

"I used my only carry forward item on XYZ and now they've nerfed it, boycot Bungie wah wah wah" Yea I can see it now
-
Ohhhhhhh myyyyy gawwwwd get over it!!!!!!! Kubler Ross stages of grief. Bargaining. Hurry up and accept change!!

Then that just bypasses sunsetting and everyone will bring over their mountaintop and recluse and we’ll be right back where we started again.

I think this is a good idea. Because the material is rare, people will think before picking an old weapon, and become more likely to try something new. I don’t mind if this doesn’t work on pinnacle weapons, I’m tired of hearing people argue for sunsetting just for the sake of getting rid of revolver and mountaintop. If they are the problem just nerf them. None of my favourite weapons are considered op, I don’t see why they need to be sunset as well, this is just stupid.

Yeah the point is to stop you from using the same weapon and actually changing the meta. And helping with power creep. That solves the individuals problems but not the games problems that sunsetting is meant to solve

Edited by Sweet Lew 88: 7/15/2020 11:56:07 PMThe community will be fine. Sunsetting is basically like nerfing. They've been doing it for almost 6 years and a full reset between D1 and D2, also Taken King.

That’d ruin the point imo. Personally I’d rather not see Revoker or Mountaintop in Trials next season. Armor shouldn’t be sunset however, and recycled weapons is a slap in the face.
