Festival of the Cost.

Shout out to everyone reminding me of the actual event name (festival of the cost). I changed the title ^^ Let's talk about the Festival of the Lost real quick: Some great Items, such as new ornaments, sparrows and other stuff found there way into the game, but: There is absolutely no reason to play the Haunted Forrest at all. All new stuff is only available in Eververse. Some Items are sold for Bright Dust, for a BIG Amount of Bright Dust, what makes it impossible to grind for the new Items, in comparison to the small Amount of Bright Dust you can actually get by doing bounties. You want new gear? You wont get rewarded by actually playing the game. You can pay if you wanna look great. Im actually paying a lot of money in and for video games. But in games like Destiny or any other Loot Shooter or MMO, I want to look sick, because I completed challenging activities, a huge grind or at least some Bounties for it, but not because of my credit card. [EDIT 2.0] Lets forget Eververse stuff for a second. This Event offers exactly 1 Item to play for. An Auto Rifle. Also, there's a little quest line and some emblems. You can finish everything in about 5 hours. An Event should bring us all together, farming for new stuff with new activities. But there is only 1 Item. Instead of defending Bungie think about it for a second. ''Dont play it'', some say. Actually i would love to enjoy Destiny! But I have to say: This ''Event'' is garbage. Sorry, but playing around 4 hours for some Emblems and a new gun, spending the Rest of the time browsing Eververse, is no Event for me. [EDIT]: 1. Some guys are complaining, I didnt mention the AR. I said, there is no reason to play Haunted Forrest. And actually, there isn't. You'll be faster getting this gun by playing PvP. 2. Its not about the money. Im pretty sure, that most of us could effort buying some silver. My problem, as I mentioned: GEAR is one of the most important aspects of this game. Thats why I think, you should only get it for playing, not for paying. Especially in comparison to the whole reskinned, shitty looking stuff they presented us last seasons. Im not even complaining on stuff like Ghost Shells or Sparrows. Cosmetics, okay. There is actually not that much outstanding gear to farm for (unique gear, special design, like Trials of Osiris Gear for example). That makes it even worse, when Gear Sets show up, wich actually look way better then everything you can farm for (except new raid gear / good shit). I feel like, they put way more work into their Eververse, than into their actual game. But go ahead and clear the new dungeon, some awesome stuff to get here #kappa [EDIT 3.0] Thanks to @Odin for this: https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/46567 Eververse We recognize that the scales are tipped too far towards Tess at the moment, and Eververse was never intended to be a substitute for end game content and rewards. So, we’ll be making three changes for upcoming "Seasons:" We’re shifting the balance of new content in favor of activity rewards over Bright Engrams. This includes adding Ghosts, Sparrows, and ships (to date found only in Bright Engrams) to achievement reward pools. We'll provide a gameplay path to earn Bright Engrams and (all contained rewards including Event Engrams). We’ll give players more direct purchase options and make adjustments to Bright Engrams to allow players to get the items they want more often.

  • Refresh my memory. How much is Bungie charging you for this event? Oh, and what other content did Bungie release this week? I seem to recall a new dungeon....a new horde mode (Altars of Sorrow)....and a new exotic weapon quest....in addition to the return of the Haunted Forest. But do people see this? Did people hear Bungie say that everything will be purchasable with bright dust before the event is over and there are unlimited bounties you can do for bright dust? NO.....all they see is the bright, shiny stuff in the store...and then they start to cry.....

    • I'm sick of this bullshit greed that Bungie is. They're far worse than Activision ever was. Everyone should leave again like we did for the entire first year of D2, except don't come back.

I have the latest Collector's edition, both Grimoire's, and all of the artbooks. I've also spent roughly $50-$100 on silver over the past year. I even bought the latest raid jacket. Seeing all of these items up for sale on the Eververse store that were CLEARLY made to drop from content is starting to turn me off. The strategy of taking away items we want to grind for and replacing them with the slowest leveling system known to man so that we end up spending money on those items due to boredom is obvious as well. Activision wasn't this devious.....wtf is going on over at Bungie? **Every single exotic Sparrow, Ghost, and ship(Aside from reaching level 100 on the season pass) this season are ONLY available from the Eververse store.

Realistically, I'm going to treat it like last year with Horror Story. Gonna get my Werewolf (and the pinnacle drop) and call it a day.

            • Just a reminder that Bungie was caught XP throttling and their response was to regroup and wait some time then it was: F—K You how’s an engram every 5 levels instead that rewards old items?? I’m just grinning after all the white knights scape goated Activision for so long. It’s more than interesting that Bungie aims to be a publisher and looks like they are falling in Activision’s footsteps. When that transformation completes, all the loyal defenders will quietly slip into the shadows.

            • The f2p players are inflating the numbers right now, eventually they will leave and it will be back to curse numbers. There is no positives anymore, the whole of shadowkeep has been trash. Hopefully this games dies off in the next year and bungie go bankrupt. Teach these greedy soulless devs a lesson.

            • Three characters got me at least 10 engrams a week for two years. That’s 104 weeks times 10 engrams equals 1,040 total engrams With at least one legendary worth 100 bright dust. 1,040 times 100 is at least 104,000 bright dust. I’m not even including special events that have double engrams or deleting your shaders, or any lucky exotic item worth 500! So ask yourself where did I spend my brightdust? Was it on bad juju, ships, sparrrows, armor, ghosts? You had same opportunities as everyone else. Just like in life ask yourself where did I waste my money, $100 meal for one night, or $100 groceries to last a week? Economics is not for everyone, and saving is hard! It never matters what economy you are talking about some people just never get ahead, most of the time it’s their own spending habits that is their downfall! Best thing in life I ever did was buy a home, and through the process I was told to monitor all my spending and learn, where is my money going? So where did you spend your Bright dust.

Bungie's a joke, plain and simple, but the player base is just as pathetic if not worse. Bungie wouldn't be charging $15 per armor skin if players weren't stupid enough to buy them. While I hate to admit it, the player base is more at fault here than Bungie is. We loved Bungie for their Halo days, and for the longest time we were willing to let Bungie slide on their stupid antics because they were Bungie and we'd defend them to the death simply because "they're Bungie". That is why Luke Smith thinks so little of us that he genuinely believes we'll just "throw money at our screens" for stupid emotes. If you want Festival of the Cost to end, stop buying the items. Even if you have the spare silver and think "I already have the silver, so I might as well spend it", don't. If players were actually intelligent enough to resist paying premium price for useless crap in the mtx shop, then Bungie would (would, guaranteed) lower the prices in order to draw in sales. But, as the data shows, players will cry about being ripped off with tissues in one hand while they're literally handing Bungie their money with the other. Bungie knows that, at the end of the day, many of the same players who are whining about Eververse in the forums will turn around and spend $15-20 (on silver) to get that $15 costume. Coincidentally, that's also why Bungie doesn't allow you to just purchase the amount you need and instead require you to purchase silver in bundles. For those who would argue "It's just cosmetics, it doesn't affect gameplay" that statement is actually arguably false. Players play better when they feel confident, and physical appearance both in real life and in game affects confidence. Players who think "I'm a bad@$$ @#$%ing space wizard!" will perform better than the player who thinks "I look like a space hobo...". When you're playing with friends and your friends are complimenting you on how cool you look, it boosts your confidence and you generally perform better. So while cosmetics may not inherently boost character performance, they definitely do boost player performance. Bungie, like most other game companies, understands this and that's why they charge insane amounts of money for cosmetics. The confident player will play better, and the players who play better stay longer.

How bungie justifies this event: Yeah lets give them an activity we already made and add a little touch. Lets just give them a god roll auto rifle. Some character masks (where the hell is shaxx mask btw)? Making content is hard remember, so new content will just become eververse items. Its easier than making new content that people would pay for. Although this event is completely free, Id rather pay for a new cool activity than cool looks.

Most people going against you probably dont remember when Eververse was an addition to the game, not the main focus. I remember the Dawning in D1 where the event was jam packed with fun stuff to do, and Eververse was just there if you wanted it. Now, the event is build around Eververse. Literally everything about the event is reused content. Nothing new, nothing exciting. And yeah, its still optional, but with lack of fresh content, Eververse is the only real "new content" being released, so we flock to it.

                        • The removal of earned holiday engrams was a mistake. There was literally no reason to do that when, in the past, they existed along side the standard seasonal engram as well.

                          • It’s sad that they keep making the same mistakes. Definition of insanity. Worst thing is they will probably never respond. Now they have the F2P sticker. I say keep the prices and the current model but have everything free. No more paid seasons.

I remember in D1 during the 2nd or maybe it was the 3rd festival of the lost they had loot boxes. You could only earn like 2 of them and after that if you wanted to get any more you had to buy them. The only possible way to get all the event items was to spend 100-200 bucks. If your rng sucked you still might not even get what you wanted.
