FridayGameChat: What is the most intense/Your favorite Boss battle?

This excludes mainstream games (looking at you, Sans, you magnificent big-boned boi.) For me, since I get frowned upon for mentioning the Game that Shall Not be Named, it has to be Terraria’s Moon Lord. I’ve been playing a lot of Terraria recently, (expert mode, to be specific) and I gotta say the Boss themes in there rival that of The Game that Shall Not be Named and heck, Undertale (though Undertale beats them both by Quality and Quantity, since it’s focused entirely on boss fights). For Terraria, the Moon Lord is THE ultimate boss. There is no more bosses to defeat (well, that you NEED to defeat) after him. Once you defeat him, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING becomes instantly farmable (except for maybe the Moon Lord himself) because of his drops: Meowmere, the best sword in the game (until Journey’s End that is), Luminite (allowing you to craft all 4 sets of the Endgame gear and the Drill Containment Unit), and his expert mode drops (ironically the lowest tier expert mode drops in the game) allow you to traverse the world way better and find enemies and items way more efficiently. There’s also the Lore behind it, which isn’t explicitly shown but implied heavily. The Moon Lord is the reincarnation, imitation, or new Iteration of Cthulhu, a product of the Cultist’s rituals, unless it goes deeper than that. You need to stop him before he gains full strength, because if you don’t it spells doom for the whole realm. You finish the fight for Terraria by defeating the amalgamation of all the Cthulhu bosses you ever fought, and when you do, it’s over. You won. No more bosses, and the world is saved. What’s interesting to me is how they’ll continue the story after that, because it has recently come to my attention that Re-Logic is working on Terraria 2, and aims to dive deeper into the lore and universe of Terraria (I wonder as well if they mean literally by going to space) with an infinite world. Sorry for the big post, and the delay. I became ill Friday evening right before I was going to make this post.
The next chapter of A Titan Rises’ deadline is tomorrow evening, for those wondering. I want to get that ball rolling and start on a Spooktober RP for those interested.
• Diavolo, oh you mean video games. Well then I'd say Kovik from D1's RoI expansion, the burns will fuck you over no matter what and the ogre + Splicer combo makes it a intense fight that has you hoping not to mess up

Not sure this counts as mainstream but the main vampire guy from the blood and wine dlc in Witcher 3 on deathmarch difficulty, i swear no matter what your set up is, he can 1 shot you with his slap when he comes to the ground and then lands on you and explodes, very hard boss.

        • It’s definitely the Twins from Terraria. And or Plantera. Skeletron prime is way cool but would be better if it had more lasers and chainsaws.

            • Finishing the raids was always really fun. Same with whisper and zero hour. The forsaken campaign hit something great that I think shadowkeep missed in difficulty. It took me (Asher voice starts here) dozens of resurrections(restarts because darkness zone, also no more Asher voice) to beat that final boss. I didn’t have that in the shadowkeep campaign, it could have been harder I think.
it was still great though!
Huh? oh an angry thrall(collective noun) surrounds me. *casts ward of dawn to block the hate*

                • Sisters of battle from hollow knight. It's fast and you need to stay focused if you want to stand a chance. Truly a test of skill. You'll feel like a bada$$ if you manage to survive without taking a single hit.

                • The battle with Slave Knight Gael in Dark Souls 3. It was my first try battling him, and I ended up beating him after using all of my estus. It was chaotic trying to learn his moveset as the battle went on, and on the final stage it was pandemonium for me. Absolutely my favorite boss fight I've had so far.

                • Most intense boss battle I've ever had would probably be he twin princes from dark souls 3, I died to them sooooo many times and the combination of music, theme, and great thrashing sword slashes just made it so epic

                • The lore of the Moon Lord is so stupid. I like to pretend he was just some ancient Lovecraft horror that was sealed in the moon. Him being Cthulhu’s brother (which is the official lore, not a reincarnation) is just dumb. Anyway, I’d agree with you that it was probably the most intense boss I’ve fought, if it weren’t for the fact that I absolutely hate the fight. It became more obnoxious than intense. No, my answer is instead going to either The Mage Sisters, the final boss of Heroes in Another Dimension in Kirby Star Allies, or The Orphan of Kos from Bloodborne.

                • In Twilight Princess I was fighting the final boss. I went through the first stage with no damage taken, pretty easy. But when it got to the second stage, I started to take alot of hits. So I was probably about half health when I got to the final stage of the fight. This stage is where I really started to suck wind since none of my tactics were working. People who played the game know that you can use a fishing rod to distract him, but none of that was working. I got a few hits but I was a quarter of a heart. I kinda just gave up and hit him once and then accepted defeat. Except this was the last hit I needed and I finished the boss with a quarter of a freaking heart.
