The toxicity can get really bad, and it's so bad that it's become predictable. Wanna get challenged to a 1v1 and called a bot? Or just told you're garbage? Play a little game called "Bag the Unbroken." Wanna have your own teammates yell at you in a message? Die with motes in Gambit or steal the invasion portal. Wanna have a PvE tryhard say you're garbage and judge you? Load into an LFG group with a fun loadout on instead of the YouTube special. But it is what it is. Best I can say is just leave the toxicity behind and just try and have fun.

  • The issue I have with these examples is that they're all asking for trouble. Like, why would you bag the Unbroken? People bag/emote to get a rise out of opposing players, so if the player reacts in a not-so-happy manner, well I mean what did you respect? You were kinda asking for it. I can attest to the Gambit one from an experience over summer. I was working on my first Infamy reset (never really played it a ton), and had gotten like 15 kills in my first three invades, wearing the full Invader set and everything. Well, the game was coming down to the wire and we needed an invade, but as I ran to the portal a guy on my time charged in and went through, proceeding to cast arc-staff and get killed out of his animation on the other side by a Truth-barrage. He came back with no kills and that led to us losing the game, so I sent him a message. I didn't say anything offensive or mean, but just told him that he shouldn't have taken the portal in that situation when he clearly wasn't prepared/capable. He replied in a rage and said that nobody cares about winning in Gambit (which I did because I wanted the infamy), and that I should f-off or he'd report me. For the LFG/Raid example, again, its kinda asking for trouble. If you join another person's team, the expectation is that you'll be flexible to help with what they need---after all, you're the one asking if you can join, not the other way around. If you go in with a whacky loadout that's inefficient they probably won't be to keen. I've never really seen people get verbally berated for this, but you can definitely expect to get removed from the group. If you want to make a team and use goofy kits to try new stuff, go for it. However, its disrespectful on your part to join a random player's team and use stuff that knowingly makes their job more difficult.

The Unbroken thing is asking for trouble, yeah. But they're also typically the most toxic players in the game. I have gotten more hate mail from Unbrokens when I've done nothing more then beat them. Heck. All you have to do is beat an Unbroken and there is at least a 50% chance you get mail. But the LFG? Come on. I was hosting an LFG group for Heroic Menagerie and a guy joined that literally threw a fit at anyone that wasn't running Mountaintop, Recluse, and Anarchy. That's it. It was either run that or he wasn't happy. Wasn't even the host. LFG might be more toxic than PvP.
