Heroism amidst tragedy: Flight 93

Flight 93, as probably many of you know, was the fourth plane in the 9/11 attacks that was taken over by Al Qaeda terrorists. Their intended target was reportedly the U.S. Capitol building. But thankfully it never it reached its target. Before the terrorists could complete their mission, the brave men and women of flight 93 resisted them and the plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, fragmenting the plane and the people inside of it. Those people, passengers from three different countries included, gave their lives to prevent the continuation of the horrible attacks that has already happened that day.
For me, that's why I can't joke about this. The beauty of this nation, and most Democratic nations in the world, is that we have the freedom to speak our mind freely. You are more than free to joke about this stuff. I'm not offended or angry when I see these jokes, I've seen it before and it would be silly to keep getting offended every year. But to me, the sacrifice of the people of flight 93, whose bodies were fragmented upon crashing, will never be a joking matter. The mass murder of humans should never be taken lightly, in my mind. If you do joke about it, I hope you still respect and remember that 2,977 people died this day, eighteen years ago, and I'm sure most of you do.
• I’d like to apologize if I offended someone for the comment I put on the joke post.
I had only said that it was an inside job
This is due to my limited knowledge of the events leading up to the twin towers falling. I have the utmost respect for those who risked their lives to help others during that tragedy. I try not to be a conspiracy theorist but there were just some things about how they fell that have never added up to me. I’ve been to within a few blocks of the memorial site and tried to imagine the immense pain and destruction that happened. It’s overwhelming to know so many lives were lost that day but good to know so many were saved from death that day as well. We live in a country that tries to pretend it didn’t happen and blames the attack on the planes and not the people who hijacked them and that is what I’ve lost some respect for. I’m still proud to be an American and will continue to be but again I’m apologize for any hurt I may have caused.
