PC Settings help for a dummy

So I recently picked up the game on PC for cross-save purposes. For some reason that is beyond my understanding, I can't get the game to hit 60 fps to save my life. I'm running an Nvidia GeForce 1060 3GB GPU, and Intel i5-7400 3GHz CPU and 8 GB of RAM, well above even the recommended settings listed for the game. Yet no matter what, I can't touch 60 frames and most of the time am dipping below 30, even at the lowest graphics settings. All my drivers are up to date, Windows is up to date, everything is set up right, I'm just at a loss here. I want to experience Destiny in the best way I can, but it's kinda hard to do so right now; any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Please keep in mind for general system requirements for any program, not just Destiny 2, that the minimum and recommend RAM numbers are generally meant to indicate the necessary amount for that game. If a game's minimum RAM says '6G' that means you should have 6G of RAM free. If you only have 8G of RAM, then you're going to have an issue, as Windows and other background processes will use some of that, leaving you with less than the program says it needs. As far as your setup goes, here's the breakdown: Your Intel i5-7400 3GHz is a little over 25% better than the minimum requirements; however, it is below the recommended (which is 3.5GHz for the same chipset) Your Nvidia GeForce 1060 3GB GPU is quite a ways over the minimum requirements; however, it barely meets the recommended setting. While you can play the game great if you set everything to minimum settings, you're barely on par with the recommended settings (and below the highest settings), so you will find you have some issues at anything above medium settings, so if you have any settings at high, you're going to have a problem. Based on the above, 60 FPS is a high setting for your video card where Destiny 2 is concerned, and your 3G of video RAM is going to bottleneck you a bit. Beyond that, the likeliest other issue is your RAM. I'd suggest closing as many background processes as you can, as that will eat into the precious 6G that the game's min requirements state. Destiny 2 is a pretty intensive game where hardware is concerned and it needs all that video RAM to give you the experience it sounds like you're wanting. I'd suggest upgrading to a card with 4G of vid RAM and also upgrading your system to 16G RAM (it'll help you with other games in the future, too, and those are the easiest things to upgrade; your CPU is mostly fine)

    • Nothing you can do. The specs seem pretty weak for Destiny 2. Especially with that 3gb of Vram
