TL;DR
Should I be doing repeated 200k runs, or should I just continue to speedrun nightfalls after doing one 200k run until I get the roll I want?
Been trying to farm a Mindbender’s for a good roll, but my main issue is that I still don’t understand the logistics of score in relation to frequency of drops.
I did one run with a score of 247k because I recalled that Bungie mentioned that higher-score runs yield greater chances of drops, with increases capping at 200k points. What I don’t recall is if the chance-increase applies to that specific run, or all runs afterward.
If anyone knows how this works, an explanation would be appreciated.

still the best way to farm NF loot is to do one 100k or higher run and speed runs after that, the NF loot drop chance is all screwed up but the loot protection should give a drop every 5 or so completions regardless of the score...but this is a theory at best, but honestly if you have a good roll retold tale it is a better shotgun for pvp

I got a god roll Mindbenders from my first run with my son. We both got it and the score was only 4k. To make you feel better, I mistook it for Translation Theory whilst tired and deleted it.😭

Based on high score so one is all you need
-
I think it also helps to have the emblem equipped and fire team medallion active.

From my experience with doing nighfall grinds for the wayfarer and cursebreaker titles, hit the highest score you can in your first run. After that, just farm easy speed runs until the item finally drops. My group only ran heavyweight with no other modifiers or power increase. It is still based on rng so it may take some longer than others. I hit 188k on corrupted and it took 6 tries after that to get the pulse rifle. I then hit 147k on strange terrain and it took me 32 tries to get the rocket launcher. I did have the specified emblems equipped but I don't know if that actually matters.

Speed run it, score is irrelevant
-
I think I've had the most luck when I highscore first and then speedrun
-
I agree that a high scoring run then speed runs and if you have the emblem (for luck if nothing else) seems to be the best for everything BUT NOT ST. I swear after 8 months now still no RL and thus no Wayfarer. And its not just me have a couple clanmates like me that has most everything except the ST RL (Its a myth, it does not exist :( )

Edited by Sips_: 8/14/2019 2:05:37 AMOkay so what you want to do is this: Start the nightfall don’t worry about the score just get to the boss stage. Once there kill him like you would normally. As soon as he is downed all but one person need to kill themselves. As soon as the chest is about to open you want to kill yourself as well. This will restart the boss fight and your loot will be waiting for you on the ground as long as you don’t have extinguish on. Rocket launchers are really the best for this as it’s a definite self kill when aiming straight down.

It really makes no difference at all if you get a high score.... loot is rng based.

I got my first Militia's Birthright from an awful run of The Lake of Shadows a couple of days ago. I didn't have the emblem, died 7 times and still got a pretty good roll. There's been times I've specifically farmed for stuff and nothing has dropped in a dozen runs with the emblem. In my experience It's completely random, just gotta keep chipping away and hope for the best.

Hit the high score just once, then farm for the drops.
-
Best to do it as quickly as you can, do not worry about the score.

I’ve been farming mindbenders and militias birthright all weekend and it doesn’t matter about ur score. I was just running solar singe and grenadier. I was getting a drop rate about 35% of the time.
-
It seems people have the most success by having 1 high scoring run under their belt and then just speed running for farm.

I did a 75k (roughly) tree of probabilities run and got a fully masterworked D.F.A... I don't think it really matters
