Buff thundercrash.

It is time bungie...to buff thundercrash. How you might ask? Well I've made around 12 of these posts since forsaken so I think I got the gist of it now. Buff the supers damage by 60%. Nova bomb received over a 95% damage buff a while back because both of them were actually terrible for boss damage. Thundercrash doesn't need insane boss damage but a good fat buff regardless. Increase the duration at which it can fly at maximum speed without slow down. This super slows down before half of its duration bar is done, which makes the other half just force fall down. This mechanic is so undeniably stupid as it cripples it's range and requires your targets to be within lift distance (tested it, lift goes almost as far as thundercrash does from a jump, it's like a difference of 10 feet which is terrible). Sprinting should cause the charged melee to regenerate more quickly, think of how hunters can recharge their dodge ability more quickly by sprinting on arcstrider. The point people constantly make about how fast thundercrash charges compared to other supers is entirely reliant on an exotic to do so. Without full melee mods, by itself, the charged melee won't give you much of a noticeable bonus due to the long cool down. Having a way to reduce the cool down will give it more of a neutral game and reduce its complete reliance on skullfort. Not denying it can be charged incredibly fast, it's just mostly due to the exotic instantly recharging your melee that it's good. Even chaos reach with geomags can make a good chunk of its super cool down disappear because the traces grant a bit of super energy. Pair that with the ability to cut off your super and save around 20%+ and then geomags cutting off another 20%...you get your super so damn fast. Inertia override should grant an increased ammo pick up range, reload weapons upon just moving over the ammo, but require the slide for the damage boost. This perk is near worthless in pve and is situational in crucible. Having a free damage buff is nice, but there are rarely good opportunities where you will find this perk valuable outside of a complete set up because it's rng based and requires a specific command to complete. Allow the charged melee to activate inertia override. In pve you are going to be slamming targets a bunch, so much so that you won't even really need to shoot unless you can't punch something. In most cases, you will rarely ever think about utilizing this perk because of how much more valuable the charged melee is. If the charged melee, over it's radius, could scoop up ammo and apply inertia override, then maybe you would find more value with meleeing a target and then shooting afterwards. I don't think anybody that uses it can deny that skullfort slamming is pretty much the only reason you will be using it. And...I think that should do it honestly. Having a way to regenerate it's melee will grant it much more variety in exotics that can be used because it will no longer need skullfort. Obviously it's not going to make skullfort worthless because it has health regen and instant melee regen, but it will at least reduce its reliance. Without a complete reliance on skullfort it will have its potential opened up to exotics like synthoceps and other niche exotics you might like using, such as dune marchers or mask of the quiet one. Neutral game is easily thundercrashes biggest flaw and I hope that my ideas would remedy it's flaws to some degree and create more synergy and desire in running around fluidly, because right now it has no value outside of orb regen, but other titan supers have means to generate faster regen or orbs, with sentinel being the one standing at the top.

  • So Bungie just posted the " this week at Bungie " Guess what ? They didn't talk about the cost of the glows for the solstice ( which is way too high and even people who got it last year can't have them back) and... They still didn't answer about the buff from our beloved Titan ! Instead of that they just put a video about cross saves where they call Titans idiot. ( yes, it was funny to see but the fact that they still didn't answer about thundercrash is making me very angry ! --")

  • Needs a gigantic pve damage buff. 100k is not enough for a 1 and done. The melee needs to be a 1 hit kill in pvp to reward the reckless fighting style of thundercrash just shorten the Aoe to keep it balanced.

    • I think it should have the highest damage for an insta cast super. When you think about it, Nova Bomb and Blade Barrage can be used a bit safer at a distance, while thunder crash requires you to send your titan boi directly into the boss. And not to mention you have to get away from that boss fast so you can avoid the totally not overused boss slam.

      • What if, instead of a straight damage buff, it debuffed the foe it hits? They could be boring and make it like melting point, etc. Or they could get creative and make it stun the foe for a second or make the enemy do less damage (that way it would serve a different purpose than existing abilities). Or something completely new and different - I'm sure others have better ideas than me.

        • I want to see a mechanic in game that allows you to build up to two super charges and hold down your super buttons to unleash the power of both, like an over charge of light that would annihilate the opposition, or simply enough have a second super stored. But yes the damage of this subclass needs a straight up %50 buff. The sliding over ammo mechanic could do something more, perhaps cooling down class energy. As for the melee I don’t know what you could do with it it already gives you super energy based on the amount of enemies killed at one time may be a damage increase in PVE.

          The anti bottom tree comments are pretty funny. People seem to forget the main idea of posts when it comes to buffs/nerfs etc. Thundercrash needs some love in PvE cause it is absolute crap. Its ok in PvE. Vertical damage after landing could use a bit of a buff. But as of now, its awful in PvE. Im positive even a shoulder charge with peregine greaves does more damage.

          • Inertia override could regen some melee energy. It looks kinda synergistic with skilltree perks and makes it more independent from skullfort

                • I agree it’s pretty worthless but I still enjoy flying head on into bosses. I look at their health bar after and shake my head but I do look cool doing it.

                  • I like the idea of sprinting to charge the melee ability faster, so the tree isn’t so reliant on skullfort. I see lots of people wanting it to do more damage than nova and blade but I don’t think it needs to. Yes it could use a slight damage buff but it can clear adds better than both nova and blade because of its ballistic slam, it is not a big boss killing super. And for those of you who say “higher risk higher reward” it’s not a good idea to throw yourself at a big boss when all bosses have that stupid slam attack.

                  • The fact that a peregrine greaves shoulder charge does more overall damage than a full thundercrash super even with synthoceps buff activated is just plain absurd.

                    • Here’s what I think it needs, penetration. Here me out, I think it would be bad ass if you hit like a thrall and they just explode while you go through them as you continue to fly until you descend or hit an enemy that your super can’t one shot. I’m a hunter btw lol

                        • Useless tree without Skullfort. Tons of fun with it (especially with "hands on" perk). Not something I'd roll with in anything serious, but it's solid for messing around and for Gambit/ Gambit Prime. I'll trade out the strength of the super for unlimited mini-FoH and faster supers in many activities. But you do have a point that it's basically reliant on one exotic to be viable.
