Greetings Guardians.
I am not recruiting. My clan is full. It is at peace. This advice is to help others looking for clans or even maybe those in clans as admins.
I have noticed some things about those having a hard time finding a clan. I'd like to offer some unsolicited advice to help those seeking new clans.
1. Know what you are looking for. Check out the clan roster before joining to see how many are active/inactive. Ask the clan admins questions. Those of us who have clans hate it when people join and then leave in a day or two because they didn't even bother reading the clan description. Being part of a community comes with the responsibility of understand the community you have joined.
2. If the clan is not living up to your expectations, work to change it rather than jumping in and out of clans. If you want raids, crucible mates, etc.; send friend requests to your clan mates. Talk to them. Get to know them. There are a large number of people in the Destiny community that have had bad experiences, aren't very social, etc. They might need a friendly nudge and some patience.
3. Remember that this is a game. Life exists beyond the console. Sometimes people have had a bad day, week, month, or years. Practice forbearance. You might actually find that you can positively effect someone's life just by being a good clan mate.
I am not recruiting. I just would like to see people get along and enjoy this great game we all like to play.
Thanks for reading,
Brian

Have a like and a bump! Excellent points all across. It's nice to see someone else who gets it. They need to pin this!

Great points, I would add for both clans and those seeking, please include what system you are on as well as your time zone.

Could not agree more Brian. Really standout advice for anyone looking for a new home.

As a clan leader, this is great advice! I posted something like this last week.

Fighting Lions is a 20 strong, max level, US based Xbox clan which requires discord and in-clan activity. We are recruiting for active players of all endgame content, we want Raiders, PvP players, Gambit enthusiasts, we are a very tight knit group, but we are very welcoming of newcomers, and are looking to expand our ranks with fellow experienced gaurdians. Applicants will be screened for the following 10+ y2 raid clears OR 1.2+ kd OR general Gambit stats (hard to set a specific requirement), and general in game activity. If you are close to those requirements but dont meet them and are interested in joining message me here or on xbl(gt is same) with why you're interested, and we might work something out, if you don't meet the requirements and do not message me, you will not be approved. https://www.bungie.net/en/ClanV2/Chat?groupId=3760807

Well said. I would also like to add that telling folks the time zones the clan usually play in. I had a really fun group from Sydney but we rarely played together (we are mostly East coast) They ended up going their own way. As for you statements about admins being asked questions, that is very rare. I have experienced it only 3 times. And those folks are some of the best clanmates. Tate

Thank you for voicing an anxiety I get!

You forgot to add: Discord is mandatory whether you like it or not.

Great advice. Could I suggest this post be pinned. It can do a lot of good for everyone if it doesn’t get buried

Bump; great post!

Yes, yes, and yes I completely agree.

Great advice! I see you have a full clan after just 4 months. My question is how did you recruit so well? I’m asking because I just started my own clan after being in the same clan since D1. We only had 20 ish players and within last 6 months, over half became inactive. Four members left and went to another clan and myself and two others formed our new clan. I’m asking because only being a clan of 3, the people that have joined only stay for couple hours and leave. We never even get the opportunity to play with them. I never thought recruiting would be this hard. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well said!

Bad experiences and antisocial are big I feel. A bad experience for me being in a clan has made me not want to join another one and made me even more antisocial. #2 I feel is something that is interesting. The work to change things. Sometimes people don't feel anything should be changed. So why bring up something that is bothering you when the vast majority of the clan doesn't feel the way you do. Sometimes it is just best not to cause a scene. Examples of only certain people get to raid. No one helps you when you ask., etc. You get an upvote for bringing positivity and some helpful advice to some people.

Edited by OldJackStraw: 7/17/2019 2:29:49 AMGood advice. Requesting more...what if you just feel like you don’t fit in, even after trying? What if you continually join clans that have 50 plus members, but usually have a core of 6-12 players that are bit clicky and everyone else isn’t very vocal? I’m not really asking for my current situation, as I think I’ve found a good clan, but took a while and this is what I’ve run into in the past.

Oh yeah also if you're posting in the forum, fill out the body field with who you are and what you're looking for. If I see a post that the body field just says "Topic Body" it's gonna be a hard pass. If you can't take the time to describe yourself and the clan you are looking for then I'm certainly not going to spend any time on your post. Also, if you are posting topics like that and you actually get a response, those are most likely from people just looking to add members to their clan that don't seem concerned with who their members are.
