Discuss all things Destiny 2.

A Couple Observations

1. At the end of the Crown of Sorrow raid, look inside the Crown itself. Unless someone proves me wrong, I can almost guarantee that is Savathun’s symbol, or she is tricking us to make it seem like that is her symbol. Either way, it’s a great little tidbit. 2. “O champion mine.” Considering that Calus is neither an Ahamkara nor a Worm God, I think that it is safe to say that literally everything related to that line of sorts is linked to the Deep in some way. 3. Calus giving Vex luxury and pleasure, and getting mixed results out of it. Either it’s just a lighter way of saying he failed, or that there are some Vex that actually responded independently. 4. Calus and the Sword Logic. He does bring up a pretty fair point, considering he saw the end of the universe, and how ironic it is that the Hive believe in shaping the universe through destruction, yet hide their fate within throne worlds. 5. “Gahlran summons an ontological weapon”. This quote is from the raid, and it’s pretty crazy how the Vex are not the only ones who can use weapons like that. So too can the Hive. You also have to wonder if any of the other races are capable of that. 6. The dedication of the Loyalists, regardless of what actually happened to Calus. It’s actually kind of impressive. Anyways, that’s all. Tell me what you think. Edit: Found a super interesting voice line from Calus in the Menagerie. I can’t quote it entirely, but he hints at a Vex Mind that can drain our Light onboard the Leviathan. Sounded similar to Saint-14, at least, but I’m not sure if it really can do that. Also another one about how Oryx is not the final evolution of the Hive, or at least not an example of it. There are scarier Hive than him. Think about that. Edit Edit: Rewatched the Vidoc, and in the part where there are a bunch of totems from Crota’s End, there was something floating in front of an Ascendant portal that looked very much like that concept art with the statues and green lights. (It is a background for your profile on this website as well). Okay, I swear that’s it this time.

    • I heard that line about the vex mind that drains your light... maybe it could be a replica of the Saint-14 mind?

    • About number 2, the O ... Mine phrase is used by powerful beings as a sort of mind control technique (pretty sure this is mentioned in the lore but not sure where). Calus has seen a lot on his voyage, e.g. he met the nine somewhere, and so it seems reasonable that he’s picked up some tricks

      • I would love if OP or anyone could find a link for that voice line about a vex mind that can drain light

          1. The Crown DID come from one of Savathûn’s warmoons as a trap for Calus. The Crown is Savathûn’s weapon. So that is without a doubt Savathûn’s sigil. 2. Yes. I thought it was known that only beings related to the Darkness say that phrase. 3. That’s an extremely interesting point. So the Vex can also withstand the Darkness..? 4. It is a very good point. 5. The Crown is an Ontological weapon. If Sedia and Shuro Chi and the other Techeuns could use ontological weapons and they were Taken, why couldn’t the Hive? 6. They are born from Calus’s ritual bathing pools after all. They’re bound to him. 7. Also, that Vex Mind is going to be that Vex Mind Menagerie boss we saw in the Penumbra reveal trailer

        • <1. Dunno 2. Calus used an Ahamkara bone once before. 3. Reminder that the Vex on Nessus listen to classic rock. 4. The Hive are indeed pointless. 5. Hive can do it, the Taken can do it, the Vex can only do it in certain areas (like the Vault of Glass). It's very... Darkness and Light attached. 6. It is dictated so that the people love Calus. Notice how his closest friends are conspirators but every random SoB does what he says? 7. Perhaps Pagouri? That's the big Hydra with the Precursor Hobgoblin head from the ViDoc... next week's Menagerie boss? 8. I'd be more scared of the Hive that can break you psychologically and can deceive you over the ones that'd wage open war. 9. That's another Shrieker that looks like Savathun's Song, you know, the big one in the strike.

Ummm dude the hive have been able to use Ontological weapons for a while. IE the death song. There’s something pathological about the world inside Oryx’s ship. It resists analysis with hot, dead spite. And Oryx himself, he’s irreducible — he refuses to obey Quria’s simulations, he crashes around sowing chaos, he grabs subminds and compromises them with some kind of ontological weapon. Paracausal systems. Very problematic. To be as the sword: Keen, hungry, cyclical, ontological — This was the task I gave to Alak-Hul, O sharp-edged Darkblade, O beloved foster son.

        • % Ontological weapons or abilities are those that pretty much defy the basic rules of the universe. In other words, boss wipe mechanics in encounters such as phase 1 and 2 of COS and Shuro Chi and Kalli should be impossible. So it's not a surprise that races like the vex, hive, and the taken have abilities that defy reality. % % In the Chronicon, its shown that was a huge ruckus on the Leviathan during the time Calus was out looking at "The End." Hell people even though Calus died. Of course, our fav emperor came back from his stargazing but as a totally diff person. If anything I'd applaud him for someone coming back alive if the shaking of the Leviathan was as violent as what the book says %

            1. No argument from me, Savathun made the Crown after all. It is probably actively messing with the Psions Scribes too. 2. The Hive Worm gods & Ahamkara are relates in some way. They both have the same sort of powers, but may have evolved differently. Who's to say that Calus didn't come back alone aboard the Leviathan. 4. Calus has a quote where he says "For all the Witch-Queen's cunning, her nieces and nephews are none the wiser. I know Savathun is trying to break her own "curse". Maybe that's why the curse was placed on the Dreaming City. If it can be broken, so can she be freed. Ahamkara and Worm God powers are similar. Xivu Arath only knows Sword Logic though. I can almost guarantee that she'll try and invade in Season 12, which is when we'll also break the curse. Savathun will continue to wait patiently, and Quria will do whatever Forgotten Blades resharpened anew do. 5. A Taken Kalli summons an ontological weapon as well. Whether it's her own power or the combined power of Awoken magic and the power received while Taken well...

              • I wouldn't say "O ___ Mine" is related to the Darkness. Its more of a neutral ontological spell, not of Light or Dark, yet can circumvent both.
