Me and a group do something similar (You may have heard of us, FanFiction Unite) and would it be fine if the group (There's about 10 or so people who Rp) joined? We already have characters and the like, but I believe it would be very interesting to join. Note: We may or may not join, depending on what the group wants

  • I'm guessing that you're trashcan? We have absolutely no problems with a group joining, but I'd like to see how your friends RP and what their characters are like first, to make sure they integrate well. You might have stricter - or looser - standards there that would require some adjustment for our server, and it's better to sort that out first than bringing a dozen people over and surprising them by telling them to change aspects of characters they've already become attached to. Send me a DM, I'm easy enough to find on the server.

  • I believe Trashcan might be one of my friends. How strict is your roleplay by the way? It might help to know

Most likely then, they also mentioned a group potentially moving over from FFU. Anyway, the basic rule is to keep your character's story reasonable within the context of lore, and their abilities/equipment reasonable within the context of game mechanics. So you can't be a Light-wielding Eliksni that lives in the Tower and is friends with all the Guardians, or have Vex prosthetics [without the consequences that come with Vex parts], or pull off some of the wilder feats mentioned in the Iron Lord entries - flying around carpet bombing the Fallen with light bombs, things like that. The only other distinct rule we've got is the exotic claim system. Most exotic weapon/armour is described as being unique in-universe. Some are corporate prototypes, some are made from boss remains, some are rebuilt Golden Age salvage, etc. So to keep everyone from running around with a copy of Whisper of the Worm or something equally one-of-a-kind, there's a list of who owns which exotic, with no* duplicates allowed. *Malfeasance, Rat King, and Thorn are a few exceptions, and a few others as evidence comes up. Someone recently pointed out that Hard Light is produced in "extremely limited quantities", for instance.

  • Most of these rules are group goes by as well. It seems you prefer a to Roleplay more similar to actual game mechanics with good story (Lol...we roleplay that the game we spent a $100 has story)

  • It's more that the game mechanics provide a good baseline that for what is and isn't allowable, since from a purely lore perspective Light can do *anything*. Using the game as a reference keeps things fair for people, since some of the conflict you'll encounter in your RPing will be other Guardians. Without any kind of standards in place, you get a broad range of powers - some are so weak that they can't make it through a Pyramidion or Savathun's Song strike, while on the other end of the scale you find things like Ana Bray's Golden Gun shots being so powerful they leave wells of Light that last for decades, or Wei Ning punching an Ahamkara in the head so hard it leaves a crater in the ground, or Felwinter using the Void to snap someone's neck from a distance. Don't put any limits on a character, and everyone tends to crowd around the higher end of the scale. Until they get into conflict with another character, which then leads to an endless arms race between reality-benders.
