Stop saying microtransactions. Call it money transactions instead
Stop calling it microtransactions! There is nothing micro about it. Its called money transactions or loot boxes. its time to call it as it is. Let the community know, correct everyone, microtransactions is a corporation terminology so that it seems so harmless. Destiny community hold yourself to higher standards, damn people's.

Not many upvotes because there's no reason to. What good will a name change do? People know what microtransactions are. You bought the game at say $60, then the transactions you make at say $3-$5 for cosmetic items are then smaller transactions in the game you've bought... Microtransactions.

1 ReplyNot many upvotes because Bungie have actually finally removed the last vestiges of randomness from EV and with it the "loot box" aspect. This is EXACTLY what the community have been asking for since EV released in HoW; a way to DIRECTLY purchase vanity items. Also not sure if you're aware, but they had to lay people off when they split with Activision. They need a dedicated source of revenue for the studio to survive and there to be any future content for you or anyone else to play. So maybe drop the "I'm angry cuz it's popular" schtick and put a little more thought into your next post.

Bipartisan legislation is gaining momentum that would totally ban all loot boxes and exp boosters among other things in every video game not marked adult only. As a result any game refusing to remove gambling boxes or p2w purchases including "item timers" such as those in warframe will be branded in the same category as pornographic games. As Bunghole, ea, Activision, de, others, are not going to have their games branded like porn in the biggest gaming market, the bill passing will result in changes to market places that had gotten by by using "casino chips" currency. This isn't a free speach issue because it's not censorship of message, it's regulation of deliberative addiction forming business practices that intentionally target minors which means the litigation is as legal as regulating sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors. *edited for autocorrect errors.

It's people's money and they can spend it how they feel, but with that said if Bungie ever goes the way of EA in Battlefront 2 then I will have issues

Arguing semantics and basically nothing else isn’t really a substantial discussion point. It’s also not even cast in a Destiny-specific context or form of detail rather than as simply a global gaming issue, and even then again with no depth. It’s not going to generate much in the way of quality feedback or discussion or support when the discussion topic is so thin to begin with. Destiny was never the worst offender with micro-transactions. They’ve never been pay to win or as obnoxiously heavy handed as they often are in mobile games. It may be the case that Bungie needs MTX income right now to survive as a studio. It may not be; without having inside information on their financials, we can only speculate. Either way, attacking Destiny because of the presence of MTX, blaming the problems the game faces wholesale on MTX being present, or or just attacking MTX generally and randomly calling out Destiny while you’re at it...none of these seem particularly well motivated. I do think that Bungie hasn’t really delivered anything resembling a quality product or an acceptable return on the Annual Pass in terms of game maintenance since launch or content added, and I’m personally unwilling to spend anything additionally on the franchise in any form until they can prove an ability to push live a vastly superior level of quality.
