Let's Examine the Difference Between The Whisper and Black Spindle...

So, as we all know Bungie is planning to nerf Whisper of the Worm heavily by removing it's ability to regenerate ammo in an effort to preserve balance in PvE content (debatable). And instead have it pull from reserves like it's predecessor, The Black Spindle before it. The exact same nerf that befell Black Hammer. Now, even though the Spindle does the same thing the Whisper does (or will do), the Spindle will still be more of an Exotic than the new Whisper will be as there wasn't as many abilities that instantly reloaded weapons from reserves in Destiny 1. Making the Spindle prime for constant heavy DPS on most bosses. Compare that to Destiny 2 where we have 3+ abilities, 1 for each class that does exactly that. Although the Hunter's reload ability isn't quite as strong as it still does take some time for the animation and can usually only be done once, whereas Rally Barricade and Lunafaction are a constant reloads for a longer amount of time. These abilities basically give EVERY weapon the Whisper's main perk without any sort of requirement other than stand in a specific area, which in a Raid is not very hard to do. Which essentially makes The Whisper's role as an Exotic weapon nearly obsolete. Not only this, but now the weapon is completely outclassed by DARCI (in every way) and many other Exotics and even many Legendaries. Tl;Dr - There will be no place in the world for The Whisper after it gets nerfed. Unlike the Black Spindle

  • Honestly, the actual times I’d have more than 18 shots to just fire on a boss holding still at once are pretty slim, while in encounters like insurrection prime and morgeth (even riven but you all use prospector or whatever kills her anyway) you’ll miss the infinite ammo, but for the other 90% of the game I don’t think it’ll change all that much for me. Whispered breathing still hits like a train, unfortunately that and the white nail bonus will be all the whisper has to its exotic name. Skipping reloads is a very basic thing now, altho it wasn’t in D1.
