So, Activision was not to blame

Good job sending players to other game Bungie.

    • The biggest problem with Activision was their release schedule. -Bungie solely controlled eververse and every mistake it’s made/continues to make -double primaries, Bungie -secretly throttling xp, Bungie -changing ToO, removing TotN and continuing to push out indef when it returns, Bungie -two tokens and a blue, Bungie -telling us they were going away from nerfs in support of fun, then nerfing fun, Bungie I mean things could be worse. Hearing stories of the first community summit and the bad ideas Bungie had that community members pushed back on alone supports that Bungie doesn’t get what people enjoyed about the best moment of D1/2. Also, where is split tuning? You know Bungie, that thing you said you had prior to D2 launch at the trailer event stating how you could now “split tune” between the crucible and the PVE side. All nerf and buffs have been blanket ones. Just another misleading statement that most have forgotten by now.

    • Activision takes the blame for cut/stretched content and eververse but bungie is to blame for everything else.

      • I believe Bungie has very recently acquired the publishing rights. This next dlc is the last of the Bungie/Activision partnership. After this summer is when we will see if they’ll make or break

      • Actually activision is still tied to this next dlc dropping on June 4th. After that Bunjie is free to do what they want. The two studios that are under activision vicarious visions and the other I forget the name are still working with Bunjie right up until it drops. Stay positive guardians!

        • activision i believe hasnt seperated just yet. also, i think destiny 2's biggest problem was duedates; bungo delayed halo CE i was told and look at how that succeeded. a delayed game will eventually be good, but a rushed game is bad forever.

            • I've been saying it for years. Activision may be terrible people... Objectively.... A cancer on the gaming industry, and for note, I do not use that term jokingly, I use it in the manner it is intended, a corrupting disease that causes significant harm to the body of gaming fans as a whole. But no matter how much I dislike them, Bungie has always been squarely responsible for Destiny. All Activision did was set contractual revenue goals, Bungie was the one responsible for the decisions that would effect how those revenue goals were reached. So every decision that you've ever disliked about the direction of destiny?......... All of that was bungie. Activision gave Bungie the boot because it became clear they were no longer capable of regaining the core player base. People argue with me but I have a firm suspicion that an Activision rep showed up at Bungie headquarters flanked with Activision legal, walked past the Pete Parson's secretary ignoring their protests, shoved the door open, made a statement, laid a check that had already been written out on Parson's desk, shoved a pen into his hand, then snatched the signed check of his desk before the ink was even dry and left without saying another word. At which time Activision's commitment to Destiny ended. Bungie might have "celebrated" having full control over their ip... Because... You can't really be seen publicly running around screaming like the world is coming to an end. But there isn't a chance in hell they legitimately wanted to be saddled with this. People don't really seem to get what a publisher does. And a developer is not going to be happy to have their publisher tell them to go -blam!- them selves. Warframe has managed to self publish all this time because they have always survived on word of mouth advertising and a fanatically invested player base that keeps coming back over and over. And also, as much money as they make, they have never claimed to be a AAA developer, people take Warframe for what it is, they don't have high expectations. Destiny? Destiny does not fit into that mold. They're now self publishing, and they don't have any idea how to do that. It is however an interesting question as to rather or not Bungie now has control over the original destiny ip as well because now it means they could arguably combine the two games content into one game if they so desired which would double the amount of endgame content and strikes available for play...

              • Jesus Christ ya’ll in this thread are some dumbass morons. You genuinely thought Activision EVER had anything to do with balancing the game? Lmao. Every balance update, good or bad, from the beginning of this franchise has been made by bungie. Some dumbasses in this thread to think Activision ever has anything to do with that hahaha.

Activision was the reason why Bungie released "good" DLC's. You can say CoO and a couple others but think how time crunches and small staffs can be making dlc's. Forsaken had 2 Dev teams working on that. D3 has almost every dev team working on that and guess what, only 1-2 dev teams work on D2. Community: Surprised Pikachu Face Who would have though that short timestpands of effort would be difficult with only 1-2 teams and on top of that Activision wanting to not waste too many people on small dlc's and 2-3 dev teams on big ones so people could think the game is saved when it really never was saved. Just an idea people have when they finally get some "big" ideas implemented into the game.

              • Never thought I'd say this, because Activision is the nemesis of gaming, but I respect their decision to leave. Bungie just surpassed the reputation of Activision. That's an embarrasment.

When they left bungie, you know the shit is not going well. They flat out said no money was being made from D2 and that is a horrible game. Luke smith had to come out and say we are proud of our game. Shit sucks, especially when on reddit, fanboys are defending the nerfs. Activision executive Coddy Johnson said that Destiny had not seen a “full core re-engage” during a disappointing earnings call in November 2018, in which Activision blamed Destiny 2’s underperformance for its own poor financial results. After Activision shaded Destiny 2 on its earnings call, the game’s director, Luke Smith, fired back on Twitter: “We are not disappointed with Forsaken. We set out to build a game that Destiny players would love, and at Bungie, we love it too.”

                    • I’m waiting until we actually see the patchnotes, instead of a few (mostly) justified nerfs, before I cast judgement. I’m willing to bet money sleeper was due to a new encounter in the new raid. The exotic armor was obviously going to get nerfed, but I’m waiting to see by how much. Whisper is the only one I don’t see a reason behind. The whole reason they nerfed it in D1 was because it was a legendary weapon. They then made it an exotic, and didn’t fix the perk. It then comes back in D2 as an exotic with the OLD perk, and then they decide to nerf it, going against their reasoning from back in HoW. This is the one nerf I absolutely don’t agree with.

                      • Both bungie and activision sucks. Activision forces cut/streched content to fit release schedules and they force micro transactions but bungie doesnt know how to have a balanced game (gameplay wise). Killing pve like this before borderlands 3 guarantees that destiny 2 will completely die and people will remember this shit when they hear about D3.
