Remember that 2nd secret "community" Summit a few weeks ago? I sure do. These moves reek of streamer. Other than that, I am truly convinced the company is trying to kill this thing off.

  • The shills stream for bungo..tell their subs exactly the fastest way to off the baddies...bungo pats the shills on the head and nerfs everything...rinse and repeat, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

  • This is exactly what I was thinking.

  • Yeah, they are without a doubt killing their own game intentionally. I’m convinced that war mind and forsaken ended up so good because activision demanded it and then supplied the outside talent to make it happen. Activision is gone now and bungie is back on track to kill destiny. I don’t know why, it defies logic, but they are doing it so there must be a reason.

  • They aren't trying to kill off their own product. They are basically at war with their customers. There is a clear gap between the kind of game that Bungie wants to make....and the kind of game that we want to play. Massive ran into that same problem with The Division 1...and it nearly killed the game. But Massive back away from the brink....swallowed their pride. Then folded the game that they wanted to make INTO the game their community wanted to play. Bungie OTOH, simply doesn't respect its community enough to do this. So what they've opted to do is simply SHOVE the game they want to make down the community's throat. You can see that for the last year. They were MAD that we didn't play vanilla D2 the way they wanted...and we didn't like it. So---in typical Bungie fashion----when you aren't playing their game, their way? THEY JUST REMOVE THE ABILITY TO PLAY IT ANY **OTHER** WAY FROM THE GAME. ...and now they are just sticking their fingers in their ears and ignoring the tidal wave of negative feedback. The problem with that approach is that---when you run a business----you work for your customers. The fact that Bungie want to make a game like this, doesn't obligate anyone---in a competitive marketplace----to BUY or PLAY that game. So getting into the sorts of pissing contests with your customers over cores....and over the takign away of power like this....is a really, really bad business model. Which is why I keep harping on the issue that Bungie---and apparently many more of these game studios----are not well run.

  • Totally agree. They (bungie) are stubborn to the point of being self-destructive

  • That....and they don't care to get to know their customers well enough to understand that streamers and YouTube video-makers don't speak for us..... ....or even represent the average player. So they think that as long as they placate the content creators....that their "good vibes" will keep the rest of us mollified. ....and its not working.

I truly believe that bungie themselves have done absolutely naff all bar nerfs in D2, with all the actual content we play from Vicarious & High Moon. Bungie s work rate and output is absolutely appalling.

Agreed. Quality is a joke. They give you ONE cool mission since forsaken, just one, and stick yet another Destiny 1 item at the end as a reward. You know what? I cheated that mission, some one who knows someone i know knew how to take the timer out of the mission and i thought that was great! If bungie cant even be bothered to come up with a freaking single new item then i cant be bothered with their stupid -blam!-ing timer! They take our money and then take constant short cuts, why should i be any different? And to be honest i didn’t give a rats ass about outbreak, i still have my old one which resides in a much better game that i can use when i want.

  • I don't see this being streamer input. Alot of what is being nerfed into the ground they use themselves.

  • Agreed. I've blamed plenty on streamers, and plenty more on the Trials crowd. But this load of 💩? This one's 100% on Bungie.

Very quick to blame streamers, why not have a look around at all the streamers upset with these nerfs. Check your information before you say something next time.

  • Datto thought Skolas was fun, and wants Destiny to be World of Warcraft with guns. He only speaks for maybe one player in a thousand. He's an excellent theorycrafter....but he's the last guy I'd turn to for game development or tuning advice if I'm a Triple-A developer.

  • Datto’s playing devil’s advocate a little bit. He’s not happy with the nerfs, but he understands why they’re happening, or at least he’s coming off that way. His video is meant to be more informative than a rant, so he doesn’t get too opinionated about it.

  • Datto went further and called them justified. I think he's a good guy who's done a lot for the Destiny community, but he's wrong this time. KG2's points regarding power and the belief the power, once earned, is ours to keep is a fundamental element of this type of game. There are people who enjoy the experience of the moment, and are just fine with whatever is put in front of them. Datto is such a person. Think of it as a person who wants a challenge every single time they log in. Nothing wrong with that, unless you believe you have to force that upon everyone. That's not what Datto is doing, it's what Bungie is doing. Problem is, much of the crowd who play this type of game are into power fantasy. They are working through challenges early on so they can have an easier time later (that is, feel powerful). They earn the right to wield the power, and once earned, it should not be taken away. And when it is? It's a violation of the trust between the player and the company. Such a player now has no reason to engage in challenging content, because it is well known the only thing you can trust Bungie to do is take stuff away from you. I was disappointed with Datto on this because he didn't stay neutral, he defended it. It's true that's because of his bias more than being a paid lackey (which I don't believe he is), but he should never have gone down the path of "they're getting us ready for great stuff we don't know about yet" and use year three of D1 as an example. Remember? Bungie doing all the nerfs right at the end of D1 to get us ready for the failed two-primary system? Datto, that's a self-defeating argument right there. Anyway, I didn't get the sense Datto was unhappy at all, more like accepting he was going to have to go through an annoyance but it was business as usual.

  • They would have been justified if they were part of an overall retuning of the sandbox. Bring these items down. Rework the SHITLOAD of useless armor pieces into something useful. Bring up legendary heavy weapons so that exotic primaries and special weapons see more use. But they didn't do that. They tokl the path of least resistance with the goal of making their issues as DEVELOPERS simpler to deal with....and the player experience can just go get -blam!-ed. That's why people are mad.

  • Speculation. But it makes perfect sense and, like i said, not illegal. I know they (streamers) get tons of free stuff all the time, swag, consoles, gaming pc’s. They unbox the “gifts” in their vids
