I can see that the array of nerfs that were announced in last night's TWAB are going over **about** as I expected they would.
I've really got to ask you---your devs really---a very simple question: Do You Really WANT To Be Making a Loot-Based Game With Destiny? I ask this because at every turn for the last 6 months I see you guys doing things that show that you either don't UNDERSTAND these kinds of games, and what motivates people to play them......or you don't RESPECT those reasons why.....or both.
People play games like Destiny in PVE for one simple reason: POWER. The power to do things in the game that they can't do in real life. They GRIND for more power, so that the game gets EASIER as they progress in the game. BECAUSE THAT SENSE OF POWER IS THE ONLY THING THE GAME HAS TO OFFER.
Yet for the last 8 months, you're devs just keep SABOTAGING the game. At every turn you are either REFUSING to give the player power....or taking BACK power that has already been given...and yet you seem confused as to why player are angry...and why they are getting frustrated and going to play other games.
This game has one of the most broken progression systems I've ever seen in a loot game. At every turn its designed to limit what power (loot) the player can get from the game, and pry out of his hands (cores) what power he does have.
The other half of the problem is the sandbox. You are asking people to grind inordinate amounts of time for rewards THAT ARE NOT POWERFUL, AND DON'T MAKE THE PLAYER FEEL POWERFUL. We grind for "pinnacle" weapons that are basically nothing more than god-rolled Legendaries from D1. You have an entire ARMORY of exotics that are basically USELESS. You have legendary heavy weapons that are almost laughably underpowered.
IOW.....
NONE of the items that got nerfed are "broken" or overpowered from a PVE persprective. IF YOU GO BACK AND PLAY DESTINY 1, ALL YOU GOING TO SEE IS THAT THESE EXOTIC ARMOR PIECES SIMPLY GIVE YOU YOUR SUPER BACK ON ABOUT THE SAME RHYTHM THAT YOU GOT IT IN DESTINY 1 IF YOU HAD A HIGH INTELLECT BUILD.
The reason why people only use those exotics is because they are the only one's in the sandbox that make you feel powerful....and the only ones what actually CHANGE how the game is played in a meaningful way.
...and now you want to take that power Away....AGAIN.
...AND YOU WONDER why people are mad.
They are mad becasue you are breaking the fundamental contract that lay at the root of every good loot game. That player effort will be rewarded with power....and people are getting angry and frustrated because at every turn you want people to play your game, while you refuse to reward them with new power...and TAKE AWAY power that has already been granted.
To the point where Whisper of the Worm has been given the EXACT same treatment that Black Hammer did. We LITERALLY have gone in a big circle with that weapon. I assume the next move is that it too will be removed from the game.....
It is LONG past time your devs stopped hiding in their offices, and actually FACE this community and get to know them....and understand WHY it is they play this game. Otherwise they are going to keep doing TONE DEAF things like this....
...and they are eventually going to lose this game...and lose its players to OTHER games that understand them, and reward them.

“We’ll pass along the feedback to the team” Is the best anyone can hope for.
-
So it wasn’t activision all along lol
-
Nah game will be fine.
-
its a -blam!-ing game bud... seriously get over it and get yourself a job.
-
Could be worse....
could be the same devs as Anthem
As a hunter main, nerfs are nothing new.
-
Bungie, I hope you're listening to Kelly. This is it. This is the problem. This is what you stand on the edge of a blade with your playerbase with.
-
Truth. Every single word. Upvoted.

Maybe this is the whole point: Killing the game. And then after Y2 come with D3. Focus on D3 and let D2 die. And then everything starts over again. The best thing to do: Do not buy D3. Maybe then they will understand. But I think the real fans will buy it anyways. Who cares about the numbers ? Most of the people already bought the season pass. Money is already in the pocket. And nothing will change, unless we boycott the games they make. Deal with it. This is how Bungie wants to be :(
-
POINTLESS random capitalised WORDS.
-
Upvote. Good points, well outlined.
-
You pounded every single nail into the lid of this coffin Bungie insists to keep building.

Edited by Mightiest P00: 5/17/2019 8:50:03 PMPerfect post Kelly. You said it: loot game = powerfull weapon. Don’t touch pve gear.
-
I like your approach, it’s calm, well thought out and makes sense. I hope Bungie sees this... this Bungie, read and absorb... you guys will he making a colossal mistake of you carry out these mostly uncalled for nerfs. Do something to restore the faith of the community, that something is do not nerf in case you’re wondering... geez.

I agree, but even with the ridiculously negative response to these changes and Bungie yet again going back on their promise to stop nerfing things we're barely reaching a response from 1% of the player base. I think this will hurt player engagement, I just don't think it will be enough for them to reverse the changes. They've already said here and on Reddit that this is happening regardless of our push back and that they'll consider our feedback after we use the newly nerfed weapons and armor. I hope they listen and reverse these changes, I just don't think they'll do it because I can't think of a single time they've done so.

Pretty much sums it up. Haven’t played D2 since Revelry week 1 (which I only played to get Arbalest, though the Jotunn from the only Bergusia run I did this season was nice), and before that hadn’t played since this season started. I was thinking about trying for Outbreak after the start of next season (since they’ll no doubt have the power boost bounties like they did this season), but this TWaB coupled with the idiotic stance on “enhancement” cores has pretty much killed all motivation I had to play this game. Instead I’ll be playing things like Division 2, Fallout 4/76 and Borderlands 3 (when it releases) because in those games I’m actually have fun doing whatever takes my fancy at a given moment instead of trying to run through a chores checklist (and barely getting anything worth it, if I’m lucky) before everything resets and the process starts over again.

Speaking of communication (or lack thereof here)... There is one company, Stardock, whose "big boss", Brad Wardell, has time to speak with customers. I know that, because I did that. I even bought some of their games "before alpha" stages. Not because of him talking to us, no, I just like the series. But seeing studio lead has time to explain his decisions, motivations, further route, plans to upgrade the game - this inspires. Because even if they failed (and they did), you know how they are going to correct the situation. There is multitude of other developers, indie or not, big or small, games or other types of software, expensive and not so much, but many of them, not only their CMs, they do talk to users. I don't imply all of them are better both as developers, as humans, or their products are superior. But they talk. Communication with bungee is worse than talking to a wall. Because when you talk to a wall - there is at least an echo. Attempt to talk to bungee ends up with... Not even crickets chirping. So I guess darkness consumed them. Unless traveller created kugelblitz where they could hide for centirues, I'm afraid they are lost to us.

Edited by Ghostfire239: 5/17/2019 7:39:08 PMWhat really scares me is that they’re nerfing Orpheus because that’s all Nightstalkers use it, but without Orpheus Shadowshot is basically pointless. This basically a nerf to top tree Nightstalker. At this rate I’m scared about Celestial Nighthawk. They’re probably going to find some reason to nerf that too. If they nerf Celestial my PvE days are pretty much done. Hell I might drop Destiny all together.

I can't possibly upvote this enough.
-
Just spoke to them they said " suck it"
-
Their job is literally looking at social media, I can reply to more posts, make, posts, and like posts more than them in 30 minutes yet their job is to do it for 4+hrs, and they’re two of them to(cozmo and dmg)

Division 2's just released a huge patch with the first raid, which is actually fun and a MASSIVE list of... *drum roll please.... BUFFS. Buffs everywhere,. Skills, perks, equipment, etc. It's pretty sad when Ubisoft of all companies is making Bungie look bad.
