Are Reckoning and Gambit Prime rewarding in terms of new weapons?

Yes. The weapons drop frequently and are easily farmed. I enjoy grinding for the gear because of this.

27

No. There isn't a way to focus in on what weapon I want to grind for.

75

No. The drop rates are weighted towards weapons/perks I don't want.

6

No. Drop rates for specific weapons are still poor.

16

No. We need daily bounties that drop specific weapons.

15

No. (Other.)

15

If no, post what you think needs to change below. Some suggestions are in the poll here, but I am curious nonetheless. Edit: I made this poll because most people I play with will do couple hours worth (or more) or either Reckoning or GP and only get one or two weapons to drop. So grinding doe a decent hand cannon or grenade launcher (It's DPS output is crazy with the right roll.) is more frustrating than it is rewarding for them. Seems not everyone has that experience, but some do. RNG is quite the thing. I already know the weapons are good and it makes players want them. But this post is more pointed at the actual drop rates. Is 10 GP matches worth one weapon drop?

  • Hmm, "all of above"? No, I don't contradict myself. We have two instances. One is Reckoning, which is "different". While Reckoning is somewhat better than Lost Sectors farm (I think 1 gun per 5 runs is my best), it may be quite biased (out of my 50+ R3 runs and hell if I know how many R2 (there is no tracker), I got zero Spare Rations, but quite a few of other weapons (as sword isn't gun:))). That includes GL, burst/auto rifles, and swords. Gambit Prime itself is far more rewarding, with a caveat. I got a lot of curated SMGs (15) and shotguns (7), a bit less non-curated ones, quite a few scout rifles (I think at least 12), pistols (thought they may be "milestone" rewards as I tend to play Gambit without watching my bounties, I simply liked process), even sniper rifle (without invading:)). What's the caveat then? I did Collector's triumph, even got discount code for t-shirt (can share if anyone is interested and Bungie "Rule of whatever applicable" allows that, haven't read it yet if it exists at all). But guess what, zero Spare Rations as well. Not just curated - any. Suum cuique, but for me this is big "WTF" asked with Donald Duck voice. Solution to deal with it is voiced just below by Neolcarus1 and already implemented in Black Armoury - just freaking allow us to pick particular reward and farm for it. Yes, I haven't found my "god roll" in any BA weapon after 100+ forges on Blast Furnace alone (and guess 200+ total), but it's fair: I bring frame, I temper it, I got gun. Not armour, not different kind of gun (only as bonus), but exactly what I wanted to make. Why this is not the case I don't know. But with my RNG luck (or lack thereof), for 700+ hours I got only two Halfdans, for several hundreds of Gambit matches played and 7 Infamy resets I got only 7 Hazard of the Cast (and 6 of them are at very best mediocre), while I got more Bygones, they all are pretty meh. All this starts taxing, and in fact, after my 35 runs in Reckoning tier 3 to farm any reaper chest piece I lost any motivation to play this game. It is just exhausting, not rewarding with stuff you want (reason I like Black Armoury), and if Bungie thinks I'm going to play 700+ hours to get two Halfdans more, well, they have to think again. tl;dr Is Prime rewarding in terms of dropping you loot? If you mean general Prime/Gambit loot and if you play a role (minus invasions - never tried that, I mean k/d 0.3, whaddaya expect?), at least in my case, you'll get relevant gun. Relevant suit isn't important - only my titan has some armours, other classes don't, yet they earned few curated (and non curated) items. If you just "playing the bounties", then I don't know. Never tried slacking through. Only several times, when I played as Collector I tried to minimize my combat participation to prevent other synths popping-up, guess what - didn't helped. If you mean particular loot, then in my experience - totally not. 24 half-banked medals, 0 curated Spare Rations. Call it whatever you want, but this isn't anywhere near "bad". I mean I hit my targets more often in Crucible, than SR drops. :D

  • Bungie should have done Ada-1 type bounties for the weapons. Some bounties could have been for Gambit Prime and others for Reckoning. At this point, its just a blind chase, you dont know what weapons will drop.

  • I haven't played Reckoning in at least a month. It's pointless. I'm not going to grind for 12 armor sets per class.

  • I am going to say no. I am all about the Destiny universe. I try and participate in all the content when I can. Usually when a weapon is so enticing that it forces me to do something like a Raid that I wouldn't normally do, to me that shows that the weapon(s) are worth it. I was so into Outbreak Prime that I did that Raid and quest. As a solo player, that took some freaking commitment. But I really wanted that unique weapon. From what I have seen in reviews, there is no weapon that would make me do that loop over and over again to get said weapon. I think this season has two main problems then. The content they added just isn't appealing and the weapons from the content aren't exciting enough to force players out of their comfort zone. The best part of this season hands down come down to two weapons. Thorn and Outbreak Perfected. Outside of that, I feel like season of the Drifter was kind of a waste.

  • My answer isn’t there. They are absolutely worth it. Hand Cannon is phenomenal, curated sniper is amazing, shotgun is great, Auto is great. Lots of stuff great. And I’ve seen many people use the curated smg in PvE a lot. And the scout is good too. Sadly there are not frequent enough imho. But they are definitely worth it. You can get certain ones in GP from certain medals. Like sniper from team wipe invasions, shotgun from killing x amount of blockers, smg from High Value Targets, and then loot from reckoning: Knight bosses: Sniper, Scout, Shotgun, Sidearm, Sword(?) Taken
Oryx
(put spoiler there in case you don’t know who boss is): Hand Cannon, Pulse Rifle, Grenade Launcher, SMG, Auto Rifle.

    • Reckoning and gambit in general is a chore for me to complete and it isn’t in my eyes rewarding enough for me to bother to do it, but Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

    • Fighting the likeness of Oryx when Visage of Oryx from the taken king soundtrack is playing is rewarding enough for me.

    • I suppose farming for individual weapons would be nice, but there’s definitely no shortage of them. I just started going for Reckoner last Tuesday, and I already have all of the weapons other than the sword.

I wish there were ways to farm specific weapons, like having redoable bounties for them; similar to the Black Armory weapon frames. I want a god-roll(imo) Hammerhead? I'll farm that non-stop, and I know I'm guaranteed to at least get the weapon itself; repeating the grind until I'm satisfied. I want a Tatara Gaze that can ohk all Supers in PvP because of Box Breathing or Kill Clip? Same story. I can't farm the Sole Survivor or the Last Man Standing. Instead I seem to either always get nothing or the Lonesome(at least it's free Enhancement Cores though). And when it's the week Spare Rations can drop, I just seem to always get the Outlast or Gnawing Hunger(though again, free Enhancehment Cores). But I know some people would gladly trade their RNG for mine. And though this isn't completely on-topic:
It's a similar story with the Dreaming City(I want better Retold Tales and the curated Twilight Oath, since it's the only one that can get Snapshot). Except that's very limited in the sources per week/day, and I seem to always get Tigerspites(I call it "The Dreaming City's pre-nerf Edge Transit") or armor I don't need. The inability to home-in on specific loot is one of my biggest gripes in this game. It reminds me of when I had to farm for Matador in Rise of Iron. I didn't get one with at least Aggressive and Rifled/Reinforced Barrel until February of the next year. And I still never got an Eyasluna with at least Rifled and Rangefinder.
• It's doable but like everything else it's a grind.
