Eververse exclusive skins - not the quality we are hoping for

Hello! I'd like to touch on the topic of Eververse exlusives. I've played mostly F2P games in my gamer's life. Games, where cosmetic store sales accounted for 100% revenues a company made from said game. In those games there was a clear distinction between "good" skins and "worse" skins. The good being obviously more expensive to acquire - but for a reason. The most vibrant example will be one we all know - League of Legends - where the price varies a lot depending on the rarity of the skin. But the rarity doesn't mean adding only new look. It means adding new animations, interactions, voice lines etc. In short, when you use your credit card for the most expensive, badass looking skin, you know that you're buying a whole package of new experience with it. So what's the situation in Destiny 2? First of all - this is not a free to play game. It's a full priced game, where to experience everything the game offers, you have to use your credit card several times (basic copy, DLC, annual pass) - and it is not cheap. This is okay. The game in its current state is awesome and worth the money. But what about the cosmetics? It boils down to weapon/armor ornaments, emotes, ghost shells, vehicles and ships. Here I'd like to touch the subject of weapon skins as (as of today) they are the only Eververse exlusives we have. What we are presented with, when we acquire a new ornament, is a completely new look for our most beloved weapon or armor. In contrast to using shaders, the whole look gets different. So how do we acquire those ornaments? We can get them from engrams (which we get by leveling up) or buy them from a weekly pool of bright dust-obtainable ornaments. Bright dust, as well as eververse engrams can be obtained by playing or by using our credit card to speed up the process. While RNG takes a big role in obtaining the ornament we wish for, I have no complaints, as it is a core system in retaining the player base - and well, it's free. But there are three exotic weapons ornaments you can't get, even if your RNG is god-like (taking aside the pre-order Ace of Spades one). The Eververse Exclusives. Those are ornaments you can only get using your credit card. Sounds bad, but hey, maybe they are worth it? Maybe those are super ornaments with a change to the weapon sound, effects color, passive visualization change and who knows what else? What makes the ornaments so special for Bungie to keep them behind a pay wall? The ornaments are for powerful weapons obtainable through quests. That's it. There're no special effects, the passives are not changed, they are just another weapon ornaments. You can think they look cool. Great! I really like the Whisper of the Worm ornament as well! But is there something more to it? Something so discerning that would make me use my 10$ and buy them right away? No. There's no reason for them to be hidden behind a pay wall. As I've mentioned at the beginning - I've played a lot of online games and I frequently visited the cash shop in them because they offered something that's unique. What I'd like to see in Eververse exclusives are also items with unique traits to them. Let's take the Thornament for example. Simply changing the passive color to blue would make it look much better and be more in sync with the theme. Giving thunderlord's ornament a new look for it's passive thunders or a new sound to it would make it unique. Giving Whisper of the Worm a new sound indicator when you get back the bullets and a glow effect to it would make it unique. There's a lot you can do to make them unique. If there's a programming barrier that prevents Bungie from adding such ideas to the game, I'd like to know about it. If it's possible - why haven't we seen such additions to the game in the recent exclusives? And if it's not possible - why are having them in the first place? I like this game, and I'd gladly purchase exclusives - but only if they offer something that's special. Right now, for me, the Eververse exlusive skins are not the quality I'm hoping for. This concludes this longish post. Thank you for everyone that read through it! Let me know if you agree, if you see any drawbacks to this idea and what are your overall thoughts. Cheers!
