Hello, I’m sorry but you’ve been given false information. Bungie does not produce nor handle codes. If your code was expired then it is up to the retailer to refund or replace the goods as they were sold defective. Bungie cannot give you replacement codes.

  • Where did you get your information..? I linked cases where Activision, the publishing company, explicitly states that Bungie is responsible for resolving these DLC codes. This is consistent with Sony's platform support as well which states that these codes are managed by Bungie as a third party, and not directly by Sony. Not sure where you got your information, but I'd like to know why you think both Sony and Activision are unknowingly mistaken.

  •
How can players get help if their codes are missing, invalid, or have already been used? If the code was purchased from a retailer, players will need to contact their retailer for assistance with missing, invalid, or already used codes. What a poor stance on Bungie's part... They first apply a 2 year expiration to DLC codes (most other developers use 5-10+ years) and then continue to allow their retail copies to sell long after the product is expired. The fact that their product has such a short shelf life and they neglect to disclose the valid/expiration date on the packaging reeks of greed and begins to resemble fraud-like business practices. P.S. Bungie has the capacity to replace codes --- they just choose not to.

  • Would you complain to EA about expired codes in Madden '16? You bought a version that is three years old. D1 isn't really behind supported anymore, other than them keeping the servers up. Content has been removed from D1, like trials and IB. Kohl's should give you a refund. If you really want to play D1, you'll need to purchase it digitally off the ps store.

Understandable. Although to your comparison, Madden '16 is still playable since it doesn't come on a DLC code that expires, it just becomes outdated as time goes on (which is fine to many gamers). Additionally, with Madden '16 the consumer would know what they're getting clear as day on the packaging... With Destiny, there's no such indication that "hey, all of the DLC content in this collection is expired." I could get a refund from Kohl's but no matter what they do, they won't be able to offer a valid DLC code for the product purchased. Bungie set it up to fail for both retailers and the consumer by imposing a 2 year expiration on a product that will probably be in circulation for 5+ years. Now because it's only available digitally someone has to pay $60 for a game that's nearly unsupported? Meanwhile, consumers are unknowingly purchasing an expired product while Bungie willingly accepts their money. It's a cash grab through and through.

Destiny 1 the base game would still be playable on disc.

  • Base game or not, Bungie is advertising the product as a bundle (base game + DLC) -- and that's what the consumers are buying. Bungie then set the DLC content to expire after 2 years so consumers are effectively buying an expired product, even though it's brand new.

  • Again you didn't even buy the current version of destiny 1. Kohl's shouldn't have sold it, instead they decided to sell it at a huge discount. Get a refund from them.

  • Retailers have a business case to unload their inventory. It's Bungie who shouldn't be imposing a ridiculously brief expiration window on their product -- of which the business case is simply making more money on selling new products that they can at charge full price.

  • Kohl's essentially sold you expired milk.

  • Expired milk actually has an expiration date listed on the packaging. Not exactly a valid comparison. But take notes, Bungie.
