Fan Made Strike: Almighty Returns

Hello! This is a Strike that I made up while I was out camping (yes, camping. No internet sucks when doing these so I had to use a notebook. Yes, actual paper) Anyhoo, let’s get on with it. Location: The Almighty, Suns Orbit. (And no, it’s not a reskin of 1AU) -Reason: After the failed attempt to reclaim the Leviathan, a new Cabal Dominus has risen. With only one goal in mind, revenge. Revenge for his brothers lost, for his armies destroyed, for his new throne. Arct’luth shall become the new emperor of the Cabal, starting with asset denial. Show this new emperor what it means to be a Guardian. [b][i]To start the strike, you must unlock it by completing several quest steps. The first is to collect Red Legion commutations from Earth, Nessus, and Io. After doing that, you must defeat several high ranking cabal commanders to collect several key codes and transmissions, Aka Killing High value Cabal targets in public events. After all that, you unlock the Strike. [/i][/b] -Beginning Dialogue: •Zavala: You are here to deal with a new Cabal Dominus. He is attempting repairs on the Almighty and he must be stopped. Otherwise, he will destroy our sun, and continues Ghaul’s campaign of war. •Ikora: And remember, you mustn’t destroy the Almighty, or else we will all perish. We’re counting on you, Guardian. [i][b] Players will spawn on Deck 4a, The Almighty. Once all players have been spawned in, they must run towards a bridge (much like in the 1AU mission) but are constantly slowed by enemies. Cabal Legionaries, phalanxes and psions will try to halt their progression. Players will reach the bridge and activate it using Ghost. [/b][/i] •Ghost: Seems like Arct’luth is a lot more strict with security than Ghaul was. I’ll have this done soon. [i][b] Players will then be quickly ambushed by Legionaries protected by a major Psion. Destroy the psion to kill the legionaries. [/b][/i] •Ghost: Done! Bridge is moving! [i][b] Several Cabal dropships will appear, deploying several centurions and more legionaries. After crossing the bridge, players must deal with even more psions, this time while the psions are energized by arc energy. They’ll be able to displace this arc energy towards you, causing moderate damage, and slowing you. After dealing with the Psions, players will enter the Almighty’s inner systems. Here, they just take arc charges from several psions to power up the grinders. [/b][/i] •Ghost: Looks like the Red Legion is using old batteries from mars to power up non essential systems. •Ikora: Yet another transgression they’ll pay for. Desecrating our golden age, destr- *Static enters the comms* [i][b] After fighting through several more rooms, players will come across three levers. They just be pulled in order to open the next door. These levers are protected by major centurions. After the levers, they reach the Almighty Control room. Here, players will start fighting “Dominus” Arct’luth. Boss model is that of a centurion. Boss mechanics will work like this. Every so often, Arct’luth will shield himself by summoning several psions. Think of the psions like the advisors that spawn in the castellem in Leviathan. During this shielding, he will summon several turrets. Kill the psions to break the shielding. During the shielding, some legionaries and phalanxes will spawn. At 1/4 of his health, he will enrage, forgoing the psions and gaining two giant cleavers like a Gladitaor. After killing him, Ghost will start talking. [/b][/i] •Ghost: Got him! That’s another cabal Dominus Down! Who’s next? We’ll take em all on! •Zavala: *Static*-cellent work Guardian. The Red Legion should start regretting attacking us in our own system. The strike now ends. I’ll need some constructive criticism for this. Was it good? Bad? Tell me!

  • Should have a cool reward. A cabal projection gun would fit nicely. It would have to be an exotic. Comment after you see the perks. grenade launcher: “lineage” or “aspiration” Flavor text: I am Cabal. I will own the stars. Magazine: 11 Impact: Max Perk 1: Climb the ranks: This weapon can’t be reloaded. You can only pick up ammo for this weapon when the mag is empty. Picking up ammo fills the mag fully. Kills increase damage until the mag is empty. Perk 2: Last ditch: The final shot in the mag is supercharged, dealing 2x more damage than the previous shot and creates an explosion equal to that of a rocket launcher. Perk 3: Defeat: dying with this weapon equipped makes the enemy that killed you take more damage. This gun is basically an add clearer. You try to get as many kills as possible before the final shot, then use the final shot on a boss or a large group of enemies.

      Then the countdown timer stops. Arct'luth's lifeless corpse becomes consumed with Taken energy. Then a voice whispers in your head... Savathûn: I shall feast on your Light, Guardian. Guardian: ... You and Arct'luth both get sucked into a portal to Savathûn's throne world. Everything has a surreal, nightmarish almost dreamlike vibe to it. You see armies of Taken. Thousands upon thousands. As far as the eye can see. They're kneeling. And standing there in the center, is a tall ghastly shadow... Savathûn. Ghost: Guardian... I have a really bad feeling about this. Guardian: ... You fall to the ground, and Taken aura slowly starts to consume you. You begin to lose your sense of self. Just as you begin to lose consciousness, you see a bright light out of the corner if your eye. A hand grabs your shoulder. "You are not yet ready for this fight." Mara Sov pulls you back into your own world. Guardian: ... [spoiler]10/10 btw[/spoiler]

      • Would be nice if strikes were in more exclusive areas - the almighty (as you said) - leviathan - last city (might not make sense because campaign ending) - throne worlds

      • While some of the more negative comments have a minor point (rather typical strike fight), I still think it is a better idea than giving us two story missions for strikes. But there is more than just that which makes me like this strike concept. 1) A "new" location. Rather than taking us to another planet's location, you put us back on the Almighty fighting a Cabal Dominus that is new. With that said it opens the door up for an easy lore tab. Maybe sift through the lore of Destiny to find a name that could easily step up to that level (for the life of me I don't know if the name you have is already in lore or not). 2) While it is, at its most basic, fighting waves of ads, there are still mechanics the player would have to work with in order to complete the strike. These mechanics are not just during the strike boss fight, but throughout (ie the bridge fight). 3) The Almighty was not explored nearly enough and this gives the player a chance to see more of the Almighty. Maybe after the bridge the player is diverted into another location that hasn't been explored. All in all, I think it would open up for minor bits of lore and provide enough mechanics that both the hobby player and the competitive player can enjoy. People look at the bare bones of the strike, having no regards to what doors this strike could open, or close, in the world of Destiny 2. And it would be fresh content.

        • You might want to have the player start out side the ship to give them the scope of importance of thier mission. You can toss in the shade running mechinc from 1AU. And try making the bridge vertical, or nearly vertical.

            And out of nowhere you hear a cabal gate open and two mighty footsteps shake the ground. You try contacting Zavala but there’s static and you can only hear a couple of his words Petra Venj and Variks appear from out of the blue. Petra says: Variks get on the comms! What did he say?!? Variks: He says ”Whether we wanted it or not, we’ve stepped into war with the cabal on mars, so let’s get to taking out their command one by one. Valus Tau’arc, from what I can gather he commands the siege dancers from an imperial land tank outside of Rubicon. He’s well protected, but with the right team we can punch through those defences, take this beast out and break their grip on freehold.”

            • Maybe less bullet sponges spawns and more like Raid mechanics (aura break)? Let us say, we have to Stun him like Oryx or he will kill us all at the same time.

              • I think the Almighty and the sunburn mechanic were cool. It would be cool to have a Strike based around that. I've always thought it would be nice to have a Strike through the city streets. Some rooftop to rooftop jumping puzzles culminating into a boss fight in a huge plaza. Instead, there's ugh Lake of Shadows and a 3rd Strike on Nessus....

                  I feel like there should be an exotic reward at the end of this.Something cabal themed.Something kinetic,we already have a power and energy exotic.

Hint: when in such a situation it's a good idea to keep some fresh brownies on hand, just in case. That tends to satisfy them, temporarily.
