Let’s talk about Trials for a moment

Everyone seems to have a dream, to go flawless in Trials of the Nine. That dream is ultimately shattered because of how the competition is set up against both new players and veterans. . I feel bad for those who never went flawless and try hard to do so. It’s equally a shame others that have the ability and skills to go flawless don’t help the less fortunate as much and even demand money for their “services”. . Be a great helper to the community. People ask for help here and are most of the times turned down because of their stats. That’s like a job not employing you because you have no experience. Isn’t that why you chose the job though, to get experience? . It’s not easy, but if more of the top people or more experienced swallowed their pride and allowed to help others FREELY, I guarantee more people would be happy with this game mode.

Anyone that’s half decent, 0.8 upwards should be able to run a flawless card if they put the time and effort it. It’s connection based matchmaking. Instead of feeling sorry for D2 players think about those in D1. D1 players couldn’t even see the lighthouse and for a lot of players it prevented them getting their final grimmore card after grinding all the others. My point is bungie made it as easy as possible for everyone. They got rid of win based matchmaking and replaced with connection based. Persistence will get those that struggle a flawless run eventually. At least they get to see the spire without having to go 7/0.

  • I just do not get the connections. I am, by no means, a great pvp player... But I would say 7 out of 10 times, I am getting out played per connection. 2 taps by Midas, shot through walls, doing no damage with my shots, one hit melee deaths by classless that do not have the capability, etc And I am not taking away from talented teams that beat me... and if my connection was more solid, I am not saying I could still go flawless... but I just do not understand that when I go in to trials, or even pvp, my number one call out is if I am or am not doing damage. I live in an area that does not offer the fiber connections, but I pay for the best internet I can get and it is only me at the house. Sucks.

    • I have a recurring dream where I can fly but because of all the power lines and bridges I can never really soar like a bird. Someday I will find out what that dream means. But I am pretty sure I have never had this
Everyone seems to have a dream, to go flawless in Trials of the Nine.
Mostly because PvP is something I do when I have nothing else to do. Or I just want to have fun with friends while we discuss how screwed up our lives really are. But honestly if I was to go flawless I would want it to be on my own merits and skill and not because some Uber PvPer took pity on me and carried my arse to whatever they call it now. Platform, Ledge, Way Station.

    • I had 4 flawless in D1, it's pointless in D2 and it's mostly the fact that in D2 the meta isn't the fastest kill, it's the easiest. I see no reason to do D2 trials unless it's the bomb site, the other mode plays like TDM and I hate it.

    • I’ve found the destiny community has 2 types of people. One very open to helping and understanding. The other those who play trials and you lose one round and they rage quit because they think they are better than you. I go to look for a trials team and ever persons post is 1.8 KD +, if you look they don’t have that KD but will lose it if someone joins with a low KD. All and all I am disappointed in the destiny community I have played many games for a long time and I think that the destiny community is very toxic and it’s a shame. Bungie have made a great game and it gets shit on by losers who don’t like they fact that not everyone wants to play for 200+ hours to get 2 shaders and a shitty exotic.

    • Paid carries are my biggest complaint in Trials. My clan had a flawless run going. We were at 5-0, having won some real sweaty matches against really good teams by close margins. Then we match up against Solus. Three of them and one “blueberry”, which was surely a fourth Solus player undercover doing a recovery on someone else’s account. We won our next two after, but there went our flawless card. Not even a fighting chance against these guys. Paid carries, particularly recoveries, feel like a huge stain on this game and community.

    • Just delete this abomination from the game, it was fun while last when it was introduced back in HoW. Transfer ToO gear and ornaments into the pvp seasonal competitive.

      • Who cares about helping the less fortunate? Not like they helped us go flawless 😒

      • Systems only broken because of numbers. It was pretty easy racking up wins the first few weeks. Went flawless week two. After that, my team stopped shorter every week. It’s unplayable unless you’re semi-professional or paying for a carry. If we put more players into the system it will be easier to go flawless because the concentration of good teams will become fewer. But to do that, they have to make destiny a good game again Which isn’t going to happen.

      • Believe me, you’re not the only one who shares this sentiment. There are some who do spare some time out of the day to help out nubs like myself, however, folks are either at the point where they’ve given up and moved on to greener pastures or are so selfishly caught up asking for payment for a carry or subscribing to their shitty twitch thing that they don’t bother. I don’t think that players deserve to go Flawless if they can’t up their skill, but as it is now, Trials shows one-sided support to certain individuals. That alone destroys any attempt by Bungie to make Destiny a “competitive” game and that kinda makes me sad.

        • I know this is about trials but in D1 I would spend hours on lfg taking newer players through the nightfall, and I loved it. No point now with the scaling.

          • Everyone complains about the lack of players in trials. What the OP said. Those who regularly play, maybe you could start helping others than your normal three friends and open the player base up.
