Iron and Light: Lady Efrideet and Tyra Karn

Light is the most destructive force that Guardians are currently capable of wielding. Igniting the air to bring forth weapons of searing might, charging into battle with the swiftness and power of a thunderstorm, or shaping gravity to render the enemy's strength null and void. All applications of the great power that Guardians can wield. All of which being militaristic and combative in nature, which is perfectly fine so long as there is something to fight. And there is. A lot. These overwhelming forces essentially demand that the Light be used and harnessed in such a way that it is used exclusively for the defense of Humanity on the battlefield. To make a claim that the Light should not be used in this way is not the intention of this report. This report is to bring to light rumors of other methods of an enigmatic group that has claims of using the Light beyond combat, which we Guardians currently excel at doing. These rumors spawn from the words and musings of one of the greatest Hunters (Huntresses?) ever to grace the Sol System: Lady Efrideet of the Iron Lords. Lady Efrideet was a legend in her own right without even needing to be associated with the Lords of Iron. Having the strength, accuracy, and Light capabilities to throw a (younger) Lord Saladin (story from the Titan Sunbreaker subclass mission in the Dark Forest) from the peak of a mountain over a span of twenty miles and directly hit a fallen walker by charging her arc energy with his, essentially turning him into a living rail-gun slug (He obviously died and had to be revived.). She is also known being praised as one of the greatest marks-women within the Guardian ranks, a famous quote follows:
Efrideet's Eye (Hunter Artifact) - "Every time she pulled the trigger, an enemy of the city died"
After being long presumed dead after the Iron Lords' sacrifice to seal away/destroy SIVA, she reappeared at Felwinter's Peak to look over the Iron Banner and the new age of Iron Lords. All the while giving small hints as to here she had been and what she had been doing:
“I heard rumors about Guardians running away to the outer rim. Dissenters, bug-huggers, pacifists. Never gave it much thought. Surprised people like that could've stayed hidden this long.” —Shiro-4 "To me, the Iron Banner is a way to prepare yourself for your unique purpose. And without purpose, all of our strange, wonderful powers are meaningless. After I left the Banner, my agelessness felt like a burden. Only when I found new purpose was I able to make good use of my powers again." —Lady Efrideet Excerpt from Grimoire Card: Lady Efrideet She urges Guardians to see the Banner tournament as a chance to strengthen their Light, for fighting and for more metaphysical purposes. The Vanguard are also intrigued by Efrideet’s accounts of a nonmilitary Guardian community in the deep system, but Efrideet, though happy to talk about the group’s pacifist philosophies, refuses to disclose the settlement’s location at present.
After the Iron Banner competitions, she would leave and return to the far-flung guardian community that she held dear. However, during the Red War, without her Light and armed to the teeth, Lady Efrideet marched into the occupied Last City and fashioned herself a thorn in the Red Legion's side and survived to see the Traveler's reawakening along with the return of the Light:
Cosmos Shell (Exotic Ghost Shell) - The old doubts came back when the Light went out. But the iron in her bones, worn and rusted as it was, never buckled. The Light was gone, but holding a sniper rifle still felt right. She marched into the City beneath a refugee's hood, took up a roost in the building with the white rabbit, and killed 216 Cabal with 199 bullets. She cried when the Traveler woke before her eyes. At her hip a radio blinked to life. It had gone quiet when the Red Legion attacked. She answered it with trembling fingers. “I know,” she said. “I can see it. I can feel it.” “Even the stars are brighter now,” said the voice over the radio. “The whole cosmos is ablaze.” She closed her eyes. “I can't wait to see it. I'm coming home. Efrideet out.”
Now, I speak of Efrideet, although the title of this report clearly states that there is another person of interest, that person being the Cryptarch Elder: Tyra Karn. Tyra was one of the first Cryptarchs, in fact being one of the founders of what would become the modern Cryptology that created hard-working scholars such as Master Ives and Master Rahool, to both the joy and scorn of many. She also was a scribe of sorts to the original Iron Lords, recording their adventures and trials. Following the death of her friends and comrades, Tyra retreated from the Last City and proceeded to carry on what studies she wished to pursue. Along her travels she, potentially, found and met with Efrideet and was granted a place within the Outer-Lights (a potentially dumb name that was just forged on my part):
A History of Starlight (Exotic Ship) - Before Tyra Karn settled in the Iron Temple, her second home was among the stars. ~ To you as well. There has been no greater Dawning than this. The dawning of a new age, whether we call it one or not. I hope it is not the dawn of a new Collapse. ~ We are so focused on the return of our Light that we have forgotten how that Light was obscured. We can celebrate the Light, yes, but we must not be blinded by it. ~ And I appreciate it, Effie, but the greatest gift one could give is to heed my words. Besides, I have no need of an ornament for my ship. My traveling days are past. ~ Give it to the one who now flies it. I hope they think about what this all means… more than the rest of us. ~ Why do you think I have chosen to remain here? But… Happy Dawning to you as well, old friend. See you next year.
Thus, Tyra Karn and Lady Efrideet are shown to be good, long-time friends. The flavor text describing her second home as "among the stars" is vague at best, however, it may hold ground as to who all may hold more information on the matter of who, what, and where these individuals are. These two guardians have both surrendered their abilities to have their Light become more than weaponized energy, but a means to grant life, to the past by extending this Light to make one an ever-watchful observer and recorder of history or to the future in forging new means to heighten and sharpen oneself into a greater defender and person for future generations to take inspiration from, elevating them as a people. Thus concludes this report. End notes: Yeah this was a little bit more weighted towards Efrideet's side a bit, the Exotic Ship was the main point I wanted to get to, but I got wrapped up in just telling some of Effie's best stories. I apologize to those of you looking for more on Tyra. Information found at: http://www.ishtar-collective.net/
