Honest feedback while the forums burn

Bungie, hello! I’d like to preface this by saying that I don’t even think this will be noticed. Why? This post will be without the snarling hatred I see all over the forums lately - just honesty as well as I’m able to discern it. I’d say that my post may be slightly redundant, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem right now on Bungie.net. I really don’t know what to think about what’s going on anymore. The forums burn, and I’m sure you know why. People feel like you’re taking advantage of them. I can’t say I blame them. Throttling experience, locking content behind a paywall (after we had all hoped that this lesson was learned after the first Destiny)... and Eververse. What do I think about Eververse? To be honest, not much. I’m able to see both sides of the argument. You’re contracted to have micro transactions in Destiny. You’ve set them up to be cosmetic so that it isn’t technically “pay to win.” Seems okay - that is until I give it more thought. It seems like all of the best looking gear is only obtainable through bright engrams. The best looking gear (and best gear all around) used to only be obtainable through activities like the raid. Where in the game can I earn an exotic ghost shell that lets me summon my sparrow almost instantaneously, grants me the chance at extra consumables, let’s me detect caches when within fifty meters and generates telemetry on all elemental weapons? I hear that you can earn an exotic shell after you go through the effort of fulfilling all of the verses Brother Vance has to offer, but it seems so heavily slanted towards Eververse. And I should know. When Curse of Osiris dropped, I got it in my mind that I would get one of those exotic ghost shells. All I can say is damn, the drop rates are VERY low on those. Yes, I spent more on silver when the DLC dropped than I’m comfortable admitting. I know. Shame on me. So, where to go from here? There needs to be more than one pathway to earning this loot in the game. An example of this are Destiny 2’s sparrows. It’s crazy that the only way, currently, to get a legendary (or better) sparrow is through bright engrams. Anybody remember (guardians, not Pepperidge Farm) how cool it was to get a legendary sparrow in vanilla Destiny? Save up those marks, buy a rare sparrow, wait for Xûr to arrive, spend the strange coins on a sparrow drive, go to your inventory and Bob’s your uncle! That S-31V’s custom plasma drive most definitely is a compelling argument for speed over safety... unless you had the Time Breaker from VoG, but I digress. I could go on all night, but I’d be doing a disservice to those that have stuck with me thus far. I see why the forums are burning. I get it. I do. As another forum-goer I used to see here more often said, it’s a loot problem. Bungie... I won’t give up on this game yet. I hope the live team can work their magic and provide some compromise on this topic. Until then, I’ll continue doing my weekly milestones while grinding to get the materials for the forge weapons. I’m hopeful, but I’m beginning to worry about the long term. I hope the holidays have gone well for you, but I also hope there’s been some reflection amidst all of the holiday cheer. You know the old phrase “The squeaky wheel gets the grease?” Everywhere you look on these forums, Reddit and even on YouTube, there are squeaky wheels all over the landscape. Give them some grease, but you may want to check the “chassis” while you’re at it. It seems like there may be a few parts misaligned...
