Bring Back D1 Y1 Level System

Bungie, why does some of your fan-base leave your game? Well, it's due to the fact you take away the grind, the special loot, the End Game Content not being the End Game Content. Some of the the things you have done to Destiny 2 is good, but not all of it is for the better. The rate that Engrams drop now is perfect, and Guided Games is amazing and so useful. I recently hit max level on my Hunter in Destiny 2, but what else is there for him? Play the Raid, nah I could find armor and guns with almost the exact same perks. Trials of The Nine, nope the gear doesn't have to many special things either. Iron Banner, lets just not talk about that one. . . In Destiny 1 the Raid used to be the End Game Content until Taken King. Whenever the Level system changed from upgrading armor to reach max to, just find higher level stuff that's when the End Game Content became. . . well the base game itself. Bungie, in Destiny 1 Year 1 the max level if I remember was 20, and that was from XP. The next thing that game was looking for the Legendary Armor that could get you to light level 26. And then came the End Game Content, your greatest challenge, The Vault of Glass. Raid teams each week played/grind for the Raid gear, the best gear in the game besides Iron Banner at that time. Once people got the armor and the weapons they had to grind the materials to upgrade them, so that way they could reach Light Level 30. That there was what we loved the most, was playing the game for the End Game Content. Destiny 1 DLC 1, The Dark Below, was the next End Game Content raising the max level to 32. It wasn't much but it gave us a reason to play the Raid. What did these Raids have that the ones in Destiny 2 doesn't? Unique gear, the gear from the raids gave perks to increase their Raid Gameplay, they also had perks that other guns couldn't have which gave people a reason to grind. If this was brought back, especially with Guided Games in Destiny 2 it would be almost 100% perfect. The loot in Destiny 1 was all different. Each gun had special roles, and not every gun was the same. It gave people different play styles and if someone wanted perks that their friend had they would grind for a gun that had similar perks. It added a sense of, "my gun is unique, this is mine. This is my load-out", but now that every gun has the same perk in Destiny 2 there is nothing unique. I use more non Iron Banner or Trials of The Nine weapons more than I want. That shouldn't be the case. People should want to use them because they are from rare events, they are special, or they used to be. Bungie, the direction you've taken isn't all bad for Destiny 2 but a lot of them are. I am happy that loot drops more, and clans can get these engrams. (Note: The clan engrams only give certain things from the activities not all.) Like the Clan Raid Engram, someone gets an awesome weapon, it make them want to play the Raid. But not anymore since it's not so special now. Bungie, listen to this suggestion, and if you see this consider. For other players, if you are a D1 Vet and want to see this return comment below. If you have ideas to improve this comment below. There will be a small poll for, Should the Old Level system Return or keep Destiny 2's level system. (This is the 2nd time posting this but in a different category. Didn't notice this one was here. But for all you D1 players who was there at the beginning, The End Game content should be the End Game.)

  • Being a PC only player this really gave me an insight in what people are lacking and I must say that I fully understand why. The game it self is fantastic.. Ive never seen any fps/mmo do what you do! but the endgame truly is an issue. There is no endgame there is only a beginning and an end. As soon as you have done the raid and hit max level the game is just over, there is nothing to go for there is nothing that you can improve. One thing that I truly miss is the diversity in weapons. Right now they are all alike with a minor tweak here and there but nothing that really changes the game (maybe exept the rocket launchers with cluser bombs - and this is what we need!). there is not that much content in the game nor maps meaning its the same thing we grind over and over, which can be ok. If we atleast grind for something specific, lets say each strike gave different weapons/armors with random stats, then we need to grind and grind for that perfect roll! giving us something to fight for and to forget about a lot of the other minor issues. All games have bugs or bad decissions which can only be done right with feedback from the players, but alot of this can be minor of you keep your players active.. As soon as we hit max level.. thats when all the issues starts popping up because that the only thing left to put our minds to. I do however love that level is not the main thing in this game but i really miss the good hunt for that perfect weapon or armor or take your weapons quests.. make some that are really hard to do and takes forever.. You need to give something back to hardcore players because they will work as ambassaders for your casual gamers. You cant have one without the other :) Peace out! and keep up the good work. cant wait to hear from you Bungie!
