Do you even know why they did it like this... ?
They have different strengths to begin with, Energy is meant for removing shields and Kinetic kills targets faster while they have no shield. This is rarely requires yes however if you go Prestige or at times when a hard mode is on for nightfall it becomes usefull, power is just strong and my guess to its name is to simplify callouts in pvp.
It is not battlefield and its not like you can swap weapons around to specific slots , you carry 3 types of weapons for a good reason here and not 3 different handguns.
You are new i get it but give it some time and you get used to it and understand why energy is good at disabling energy based armor and penetrate armored targets in general while kinetic melts smaller targets fast yet deals less on shielded targets.

Edited by Roberto: 12/14/2017 8:12:50 PMLol, aren't sniper rifles made exactly for killing targets faster when they have no shields? I mean, that's basically their whole function in all such games (take Overwatch and Halo as examples). That's why they should be kinetic weapons as well. Let's be honest: Basically nobody even uses snipers on Raids/Nightfall/etc, they're just objectively worse than Rocket Launchers, since they got just about the same range, don't require as precise aiming and do tons of splash damage as well (while still having good single target damage). Have I ever complained about energy weapons at any time? I don't think you're following it. They'd be just in the same slot as they ever were, just like Kinetic weapons, with the only diference being: Sniper Rifles are now Kinetic as well. Being a little rebalanced if necessary. It's a fact: Destiny 2 weapon system disencourages variations in playstyle, and is just broken in overall.

“Faster” is a relative term. I think moving shotguns and snipers to the power slot was a reaction to immediately having 1 shot kill ability in PvP. In my opinion, PvP is a skill vs skill challenge. It is called CRUCIBLE for a reason. “A situation of severe trial, or in which different elements interact, leading to the creation of something new.” - definition provided by Google by searching “crucible.” The game mode is not called “peek-a-boo one shots” or “long range headshot challenge.” It is CRUCIBLE. I find Antiope-D vs Uriel gunplay far more of a severe trial than corner crouching a Quickfang in “no warning, what was that, insta kill” mode. Kudos to Bungie for getting creative in addressing the problem. I think the execution was horrific, but the intent is correct. My criticism will be limited to a game with fewer features than Destiny 1, awful backend operation especially in managing connection for PvP, regression in the storytelling capability of the game, or the feeling of anemia during PvE play even after your guardian regained light, hit max level, etc.

Edited by Roberto: 12/17/2017 9:05:39 AM
In my opinion, PvP is a skill vs skill challenge.
Correction: It should be, but it's far from being it at the current state of the game. So are you implying that all competitive PVP fps with >>standard<< sniper rifles are “peek-a-boo one shots”?? I guess CS, Overwatch, paladins, bf1, r6 and many others would disagree. You don't need to reinvent the damn wheel when you've already got that many references... And sniper rifles on Destiny 2 aren't necessairly equal as 1HK weapon, as it's a game based on having powerful gear (including hard helmets), and not being exposed at the whole time. They should be rebalanced if that change happened, of course. Not to mention that, even by now, there would be many counters to those campers already, since Hunters just can go invisible and stab them from behind, players can pick power ammo for their swords and 1 hit kill those who can't defend themselves at close range (aka people using sniper rifles). Current state of PVP is kind of a joke; I mean, when it does works, it's pretty damn cool, but most of the time matches will be just a bunch of people jumping blindly shooting at each other. More punishment is *needed* to those who have no map vision. Then we would have far more 'spreaded out' and diverse team formations.

If you disagree try using: “I disagree with your opinion on the following grounds...” Kthx
Yeah yeah, I'm totally buying this note right now, as you've never done the exact opposite of what you just said now... Oh, wait:
Wrong Do you even know why they did it like this... ?
Little advice: If you don't have anymore relevant arguments to input on the discussion, please avoid writing those pre-made texts. That's not "winning", that's just whining - and it sure is kind of annoying. Oh, and by any chances do you disagree with this statement? "PvP should be a skill vs skill challenge." Yeah, I guess not... Not to mention that the whole purpose of writing an argumentative text is to tell the reader why he should agree with the author's point of view. Just like you did before with me (excluding the part in which you straight out just said I was plain wrong).
