Upvote if you still have hope for D2

I've been with Bungie and Destiny for too long to give up hope, I've been there through the hard times and the good time (that's right, time, cause there was only one, Age of Triumph, best time of Destiny) . Before anyone says that it's people like me, who's fault it is that D2 is like this, can you honestly say Destiny 1 didn't get better with time? Can you honestly say they didn't make improvements with their content? Can you honestly say you preferred D1 year 1 to D1 year 3, or hell even Year 2?

already preordered like many others so I’m just going to enjoy the brief time when the DLC’s drop and downgrade my grind to: Filthy Causal

Can you honestly say you preferred D1 year 1 to D1 year 3, or hell even Year 2?
Actually, I can say with a straight face that from a core game play standpoint, Y1 was the best era this game ever had. You can say what you want to about D1's broken story (no arguments there) and unforgiving RNG, but the game was legitimately FUN, and we never lacked motivation to play the game. Every single activity was geared towards progressing your character somehow. Bounties helped unlock perk nodes on gear and get you upgrade materials. Public events allowed you to obtain upgrade materials. Strikes offered a slight chance of getting legendary engrams and simultaneously helped rank up your vanguard to allow you to obtain legendary gear the hard way if it didn't drop. ENDGAME PVE was truly at its high point. The endgame loot was amazing and actually made a difference. And there was always a white whale to chase. Since TTK released, the endgame grind was converted into nothing more than a grind for cosmetics, NONE of the endgame loot was hands-down superior to anything else you could get in the game, strikes were converted to the endgame by way of 3oC, and light level stopped being so important. Elite tier gear was watered down or nerfed, elemental primaries went away, all the games best stuff was given away by quest, meaning the endgame really had no purpose except for a grind to get cosmetics. Overall, I don't consider any of those things improvements. To be completely fair, Destiny 2 just takes everything I hated about the Post HoW era and puts it all on steroids. That's not an improvement IMO. Sure, the story started to get slightly better and the game improved for casuals, but the core gameplay IMO was eroded because the game lost its structure. They streamlined things so much that once meaningful activities like bounties were largely irrelevant for most of Y2/Y3. And the nerfs. UGH. The nerfs to all of our favorite gear as the game progressed because Bungie refused to fully separate PVE from PVP. Overall, D1 got marginally better in SOME areas and took some major steps back in other areas. And those steps back are what they apparently built D2 upon. I don't think they're willing to go back to the Y1 formula that made this game so fun and addicting that I and many others couldn't put it down for several months straight.

    • That's the point... they took 3 years of improvements. And threw them all away.. is that ok with you? Or do u want to wait 2 or 3 years everytime a "new" game comes out for it to be releveant.

      • Last time I saw this poll there were 0 up votes and around 200 comments. Now there is 400 up votes and 500 comments. I still feel Destiny 2 has the potential to be a great game, but the endgame content is extremely dry right now so I'm just waiting for the curse of Osiris.

you are not wrong but it should also be ok for everyone to think that destiny1 with all the dlcs should have been the starting point of destiny 2 AND NOT: take destiny1 and strip away all the dlcs then take some of the stuff and refurbish it into a title called destiny 2 and let people have the same bad experience UNTIL dlcs come out!?!? they knew better and still they did not deliver like they promised... they did at no point say:"hey people, about your expectations... do not think that we use destiny1+ dlcs as a starting point... think of it more like we go back to destiny one and do some changes there..." NO... they said they would give more things to do more story with cutscenes ( which by the way are a joke in terms of story- and dialogue- quality) ... more is what they promised and when people can play through "more" in two weeks with no endgame after that nothingness makes them salty.. this watered down casual approach sells a lot of copies and apperantly makes parents very happy but thats it. So is there really hope? I think from their standpoint it was a success ... they sold a lot of copies and hope will also sell the dlcs...

        • It isn't a bad game. I finished the game by getting to max power, then I moved on to a different game. Had plenty of fun along the way. Having fun again on PC. Will have fun with each DLC and will happily pay for each. Over 100 hours of gameplay out of a $60 game is a steal.

How long are you gonna have "HOPE" this time? To bungie, Hope costs money. Period. What you people don't realize is, that the ball on in OUR court. We decide the fates of these halfwits at Bungie.

        • My love relationship started dwindling hard after Marty's departure. D2 is just not fun for me and there has been enough time, trials and tribulations at the studio over the past years for me to realize this isn't the game I want to play, anymore.

                • I have no hope. I fundamentally hate the core of this game, the weapon system, the toned down ability power and effectiveness, the lack of class options, the static weapon rolls. I hate how slow the PvP is, I hate how slow you move, the glacial ttk, the still awful network. None if that is going to change. there's a lot they can fix but the weapon system, abilities and class options will never change, too much of the game (especially PvP) is built entirely around those changes.
