Golden Gun vs Majors

I really thought Golden Gun in Way of the Sharpshooter was supposed to be the king of single target damage, but further testing has shown that it really is not. Now maybe in terms of its base damage numbers it's supposed to be, but there's one thing that hinders it: majors (enemies with orange or yellow healthbars) take a smaller percentage of critical damage than their red-healthbar cousins. And it just so happens that Golden Gun under the Sharpshooter skill tree is the only super that relies on critical damage to maximize its effectiveness. What I have found is that if you can avoid getting ground smashed and flung to the moon, simply striking a boss over and over again with basic attacks for the full duration of Arc Staff will result in more damage than three consecutive headshots from Sharpshooter Golden Gun, especially if you activate Lethal Current in the Way of the Warrior skill tree. Just equip Celestial Nighthawk you say? Or how about I just equip Raiden Flux? Because Raiden Flux allows Arc Staff to put out at least (if not more than) double the damage that Celestial Nighthawk can do to a boss. So how about this instead: Golden Gun should be exempt from the critical damage reduction normally applied to major enemies, especially with the Sharpshooter skill tree, because it sure as hell can't be used to kill ads. It should at least be the best for single target damage.

  • Golden Gun is already best for fast single target damage. That is of course you are using the precision skill tree where each precision generates orbs and does bonus damage. The 6 shooter one is definitely for killing 3 majors in a row or 6 adds. Other than that, I dont touch that tree much even though I really like the reload perk on that tree.
