Fighting Lion Buff Ideas

I wanted to create this thread to offer up ideas to buff the Fighting Lion, and maybe some other lackluster exotics. The Fighting Lion isn't a bad weapon idea; break shields, switch to Kinetic weapon to clean up. It supports a play style that involves using your Kinetic weapon as your main weapon and only pulling out your Energy to take down shields, a play style I typically use. The problem with Fighting Lion is that any other energy weapon does its job just as well. While the Fighting Lion may take down shields slightly faster because of the massive burst damage, it really isn't worth giving up your Energy slot for. The other issue is the fact that there are times when it doesn't even do enough damage to break shields, forcing you to endure it's long reload animation in order to do something a different energy weapon could've already done just as well or even better. My suggested fix is to turn the Fighting Lion into the ultimate shield-breaking exotic. Firstly, make it do MASSIVE damage to shields (more than it already does as it isn't enough as previously stated) in order to guarantee that shield break. Secondly, on shield break, handling for the Fighting Lion should be greatly increased for a few seconds. This supports this weapon's purpose because this means you will be able to swap to your Kinetic weapon to clean up faster. Thirdly, give a buff of slightly increased target acquisition (aim assist), handling, and stability on swapping away from the Fighting Lion after a shield break. This ensures an easy cleanup with your Kinetic weapon. I believe the current perks on the Fighting Lion should stay as well. I'd like the grenade fired to be impact instead of bouncy, but that's more of a personal preference and I don't think is entirely necessary. I feel as though these buffs could turn the Fighting Lion into a usable exotic. In my opinion, the appearance, feel, and gameplay idea behind this exotic are very cool and it is definitely something I would use if it received a buff. Please feel free to contribute to the thread and will update the OP accordingly.

  • I would welcome a buff to the fighting lion, however I'm not sure if a damage buff is necessary. I use this gun along with a throwing knife and it works great. The only issue I have is that it is fairly difficult to consistently land direct hits. Even when I could have sworn that I got a direct hit, it doesn't deal it's maximum damage. Either I have bad aim or the perk "thin the herd" doesn't proc.

  • Love the ideas. I fell in love with this gun in pvp. It definitely needs just a little something more. Would like a sort of a hybrid of bouncy/impact detonation. (I've gotten a few sick cross map kills because of that bounce) maybe make it detonate on impact unless you hold the trigger. On a side note, in pvp the bonus damage to shielded enemies seems to proc when it wants to. It seems the bonus damage happens in two instances when it hits, and whether it's because of lag or whatever, sometimes it just doesn't work. Am I alone here? Tried to look up if others have had this problem with no success.
