Is Cuphead actually that hard?
So because of the hype that has lasted for 3-4 years surrounding Cuphead, I decided to give it a go. It is a freaking blast who else has played it?

1 ReplyNot really, used to play loads of similar often harder games during the game boy years. A lot of experience with bullet hell games probably also helped though. If you're not used to games like this it might be a bit rough after the first section though.

Yes. Yes, it is. I just finished my Let’s Play of it on You Tube. I haven’t raged that badly since trying to unlock the Invincibility cheat in Goldeneye.

I've heard it described as a bullet hell platformer. Looking at gameplay, it doesn't seem to look too hard if you don't suck at Mega Man. Basically, I'm going to have a pretty hard time with this if I pick it up.

1 ReplyIts hard for gamers who didn't grow up playing that kind of game. If you played a lot of Contra games or Megaman, Cuphead is pretty similar to that kind of gameplay. Everyone is comparing it to Dark Souls because its tough. But its not tough because theres enemies that are way stronger than you, if you die its because you made a mistake. I'm not trying to say it isn't hard, it took me 10 minuets to get through the first level and probably close to 20 deaths. It really is one of thoes games you have to git gud at. You cant just grind skeletons till you're over leveled for the boss.

It's hard, but I think there are a few people making it sound harder than it is. I think I only got stuck for a while on one or two bosses. The game has plenty of challenge, but not so much that you'll never beat it.

I bought it yesterday. I got to the 2nd world in 1 hour. Sure can be hard sometimes, but definitely not impossible. Maybe that has yet to come?
