I caught some feels after watching the new Age of Triumph cinematic and..

TL;DR I might have smoked too much hippy lettuce and got too feelsy with the new cinematic and made a post about my whole experience with Destiny in a good way. Post begins here: I gotta say, I had a big love/hate relationship with the game. I heard about the game when it was announced as an idea. As an Easter egg on Halo 3: ODST. I watched the hell out of it like a hawk. I paid close attention to it, watched every video, played the hell out of the beta, I even pre ordered the damn game. The 150 dollar pack that came with the replica ghost when Peter Dinklage was the voice actor for the ghost. The armory book, the patches, everything. Looking through the old stuff started making sense as Destiny as a game developed up with new things added, whether it's the story or just a nice little grimoire for a side story. I loved the game. I loved the hell out of the game. Had about 250 hours on it before switching to the Xbox One version. My interest in the game started to dwindle slowly as the game became repetitive, strike after strike, RNG after RNG. It just got tiresome and decided to take small breaks here and there. I still remember the times my good friend Kody would rage every week because of the weekly Nightfalls because no Exotic would drop besides the Gjallarhorn. When he saw the Iron Gjallarjorn became a thing, he scoffed and said "I don't wanna even SEE the damn thing anymore". We did a lot of VoG, pushing off Atheon many times, just having a lot of fun trying to figure out the Maze. It's just a lot of things about Destiny brings me back to the good days of DAY one. Small ass vault space. I remember that disaster. Any veterans would remember that. And I also remember seeing some people walking around with the special ghost that collector edition owners had, the Frontier Shell. It made me feel all badass and special and all. And with the ship it came with it, even though they were just cosmetics. But I didn't care. It looked cool to me. At the beginning of Year Three, I got my girlfriend and her Dad into playing Destiny. I even gave her the ghost replica because, you know, I love her. She was in love with the game, the Dad got way too into it. Got to light level 400 before I did. Did not touch a single raid. But bless his heart, he had a blast playing it. Same when I had my girlfriend start off. All three of us were playing a lot of Destiny. Teaching them what the classes do, what their ultimates do, and what they're capable of, and so on. I was happy I brought people into Destiny. I was happy that they were happy that they had a great game to play. It got me playing again. Playing with people I know and would play it every day to their hearts content. Her dad watched YouTube videos about the game every day. About how to get the Black Spindle, about the Khvostov when it was released. I was happy. Because I was him when I started. Y'all must think that this post is kinda dumb and just opening up because I felt like it, but it is just more than me opening up. It's about thanking everyone for such a great experience that I had with everyone that I played with in game. Whether it was just a strike, or some random people for a raid. It was a great experience and I hope more is to come when Destiny 2 is released. Just thinking about it is bringing me back to my Day One phase. Watching it closely. Hoping some things may change with the loot system and gun customization, crossing fingers. But none the less, I'm happy with the game as is. As it was just a rollercoaster of everything. Except for the trip mine nerf. I still hate y'all for that. To end this post, I just want to say thank you Bungie for making a game I had memories with for such a long time. And I hope you keep going with the franchise after the contract ends.

    • I'm actually doing a study on why people like the game so much even with the harsh feedback they get and what the answer so far that I'm getting is that is a first person shooter that is not like other first person shooters. It's much like borderlands but with a more mmo type feel to it but it's not an mmo and it requires a lot of time to build a character in the game. Sometimes it takes days of playing to have a character look the way you want him at the power lvl you want him with the perfected stats and this is the only reason people crave this game so much from what I can tell. It's the desire to complete this never ending game, to perfect this character to the max both lvl and stats wise. So if another game came about that did this ultimately better and his game actually had competition in the genre it's going for it would ultimately fail as its has to manny flaws. It would be overtaken by the superior loot pve/pvp based shooter which might be destiny 2 hopefully.

      • While the game had it's flaws, all the relationships and memories overwhelm the negatives. Carry on Guardian.

      • It has been a trip through the years, and a worthwhile one at that. It's nice to see the game progress and develop throughout the years, and to be part of it.

•
• I could thank Bungie, and I could punch a Bungie. That's my relationship with Destiny.

                • D2 desperately needs: 1. Dedicated servers 2. 60 fps 3. Ptr 4. Separate buffs-nerfs in pvp and pvp 5. New sandbox and live team 6. Multiple ways to earn micro transactions 7. So to sum it all up Blizzard needs to buy the franchise from Burrito and Avocado! :')

                • I have to say that I've never wasted ao much time in a game as I did in Destiny. BUT! Time doesn't equal the level of fun or enjoyment the game brings. There are games that I've played for maybe 20-30 hours that were MUCH MORE enjoyable than Destiny is. Personally I'd rather have a game that is intense, thilling, filled with atmosphere, exitement and a great story, even if they're singleplayer only and short with no rng loot to keep it artificially alive. My all time favourite game even to this day for example is Super Metroid. It's a masterpiece in literally every aspect. I've played it way less than Destiny...but I'll kickban Destiny without a single doubt if I have to choose one of both games. Don't get me wrong, I've had awesome coop moments in Destiny. My first Nightfalls and VoG runs back in Y1 were one of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had. But overall we all know this game is shallow and tedious as shit in most situations.
