A little sunsinger rework idea.

Sunsinger right now in destiny is arguably the weakest and most lackluster subclass in the game so I want to propose some changes that could spice up the subclass and promote the use of other perks besides fusion grenades, fireborn, flame shield, and the VF and ToF build. Feel free to leave any opinions about my suggestions. (Lets get the obvious one out of the way first.) •Buff the radius of firebolt grenades: Firebolts were nerfed on unjustified terms because of the old VF capabilities. I do not say to increase the tag speed and damage, but to be able to tag enemies who are going faster that walking speed again would be nice, the size just feels like the size of a paper plate •Kill all momentum on Angel of Light perk: I can speak for a lot of warlocks that swishing behind a piece of cover when trying to in-air shoot someone is annoying in both pve and pvp. This would also provide as a safety net for warlocks to help them not fall off ledges. •Nerf/Buff Touch of flame: This change is mostly an indirect buff to the new VF by adding one extra tick of burn but reducing the tick's damage for grenades to compensate. This would make it easier for people to get the 3x VF damage boost without using something like extra grenade/melee perks/exotics or something like the Apotheosis Veil. [This WILL NOT be a mini pre-nerf VK change. The damage should be about the same, just with one extra tick with overall reduced burn damage resulting in about the same net damage] •Change the ability of Radiant Skin but keep the name: Just giving extra armour is boring and not fun. Something that would fit the name of "Radiant skin" better would be to make enemies within a close proximity to you will start taking AoE damage (around the size of a solar grenade with about the same damage too) This could be used as a defense against shotgunners, blades, and anyone who just really wants to punch you. It could also be a good youtube video trying to get multikills just by existing near enemies. •Aesthetically buff Song of Flame: Whenever I used SoF, none of my allies would really notice and not take advantage of their ability boost. This change would add a slight screen effect to allies that would give them a radiant (punny hehe) hue at the bottom of their screen (it should NOT look like you are taking burn damage but as a warm, welcoming yellowy-orange glow and have a similar look to being empowered, but just at the lower portion of their screen). •Buff sunburst: Sunburst is hands down the least used perk in the Sunsinger subclass. This change would make it so that just hitting a target would guarentee a smallish to medium orb of light on a hit (not kill). This would give some reason for people to use it in stuff like ToO and in general crucible. ADDITIONAL EDIT: Orbs created by Sunburst within pve activities will be a medium orb while orbs generated in pvp will be the smaller types so they do not give a massive advantage to their team. •Replace either Solar Wind or Brimstone with this: A melee perk that it gives the ability to buff an ally. This perk would make it so that hitting an ally with your scorch charge would give them an overshield similar to flame shield. This would not give melee assistance toward allies in the sense of your melee twicks your screen and locks on to a teammate when you wanted to slap an enemy; this should only work on a non-lock melee hit that touches an ally. (Could I see sunsingers teaming up with other roaming supers? Just imagine a shielded Stormtrance or Bladedancer.) The rest of the subclass seems just find and I don't believe there should be anymore changes. Again, this is just a fun idea to spice up a very tart and tasteless subclass and to get them out of their flunk. Thanks for reading and feel free to reply with feedback, opinions, and suggestions!

  • Since Radiance is either a "oh shit I died button" or a "hey guys, don't jump away from my grenades now, ya hear!" I would suggest that activating radiance gives you back a little more burn akin to old VF. If my super is nothing but ability recharge, is it too hard to ask that my grenades do a little extra dmg too? I'm not saying burn a whole team out with 1 grenade, but can they be a tiny bit more powerful when radiance is active? Also please have a "visual" que for Song of Flame. Partners are so stupid sometimes. Like guys.. I'm letting you throw grenades like a mad bastard!! Please attempt to press the grenade button at least 2-3 times plz :3

    • I agree, but I think song of flame should start health Regen upon entering range. Also give SONG of flame a ring of fire around the warlock so people know where the range is.

          • I always thought that Song of Flame should heal nearby allies. You give up extra armor or self res for somethings that isnt too great so why not?

          • Why waste your time posting any buffs? You know they will buff one thing you didn't ask for and for balance sake 8 things will be nerfed plus an extra big nerf to the ground to # 9.

            • I had a thought for the super. Instead of depleting over time, it depletes as much as you use your abilities. Basically, your grenades and melee stay fully charged, but they take chunks out of your super meter as you use them. Melees take more energy than grenades, obviously. Heart of the Praxic Fire halves the amount of energy used. If you like the idea, put in your post.

                To fix it First everyone has to stop crying about DoT Burns forcing them to Disengage from their Leeeroy Jenkins Shotgun Rush, and learn to deal with more complex engagements than 'bang! I shot you first I win!'. Then revert all the grenade/viking funeral nerfs back to how it was in TTK. Done Except that first part will never happen, because people don't want to deal with complicated things like shield regen, retreat to cover, etc "but fighting wizards who cast Status Effects on me is Annoying, I want to play CoD, not some crazy dungeons and dragons RPG!" So RIP Sunsinger

                • There is nothing underpowered about sunsingers. They have the ability to give themselves two grenades or float in mid air. They have two very viable grenades( fire bolts really aren't that good anymore.), a super that either brings hem back from the dead or grants significant damage reduction and allows a one shot melee and the spammage of grenades topped of with a melee that grants an overshield. Try using the class. You might discover it's actually really good.

                • I'm not sure why they would nerf the burn to nothing then add in an Artefact to reduce burns in PvP. It's like watching a ball fall on someones head *clunk* then saying "Heads!".

                  • The only way to fix Sunsingers is to leave them alone and enjoy the class. It's still one of the best classes in the game. Just because you need a crutch to play a class doesn't mean that Sunsinger is broken.

                    • Sunburst buff is interesting but might be OP. I've always thought one of the melee perks should cause the target to be ignited and then if you kill it while it's ignited, it generates a large orb.

                      • I like sunburst/brimstone for pve. Claws of ahamkara with that is an orb machine. Brimstone is also underrated in pvp. The reduced melee cooldown allows way more ohk melees during radiance.

                        Yes yesss. I love sunsinger and have been a little salty ever since they were undeniably pushed to the bottom of the subclass suckery list (an exaggeration, but still) in the 2016 April Update. I love the aesthetic buff for Song of Flame.

                        • Your melee idea I would apply to solar wind.... that perk is completely useless to me. I would have them buff song of flame to where there is no distance required for the perk to activate on your allies, it just activates for all allies, everywhere. I actually like using Brimstone and sunburst together with the claws of ahamkara and Monte Carlo. Especially with this week being solar burn and brawler on strikes. I am a crazy orb machine for my team. :)

                          • Disagree with the melee changes, brimstone+sunburst is hella fun to use during solar burn strikes that combo is orbs for days to allies, i would say keep it but increase the damage of the explotion to guaranteed kill tier 1 enemies, also a guaranteed orb for hitting a enemy could be a bit too strong, maybe give back solar wind the capability to push allies and buffing them with extra agility or movement speed and debuff enemies with a slow. The main problem with buffs and debuffs in destiny is that we are in a fps shooter so bungie have to strike a balance in a clean hud for the shooting and the texts, symbols, notifications for the buff/debuffs; AoEs, etc that we have in rpgs so i ts like trying to dumb down something really complex without damaging the idea or core of the thing we are trying to simplify.

                              • I've been tooling with sunsinger in PVP and cannot disagree more. I find bladedancer (my main) to be weaker overall. I can't tell you how many sniper headshots I've tanked while running this f[b]u[/b]ckin class. Radiance is a prime choice for territory control. Everyone associates the class with Fireborn and ToO, and don't run anything else. Instant death long range melee and 2x damage resistance? Large DoT grenades? Fast charging melee with knockback? This class is strong for other reasons, and it's looked at as weak because it's bulky and harder to use effectively. Everyone wants to rush around and get kills, and I enjoy putting them down with Sunsinger.

                                • I run with felwinter artifiact so no super but double nade/melee and touch of flame ad the perks that triggers an explosion on kill plus possible orb for faster CD with a disc/strength build is fun.
