Crota's End Rune Holder?

So a buddy and I were messing around in Crota's end for nostalgia's sake and we reached the chest at the end of the thrallway. Upon opening the chest, my friend turned around to leave the room and noticed a rune holder like those that you would find on the Dreadnaught to use wormsinger runes. I've run this raid hundreds of times and never noticed it. We investigated a little and found that this little podium has always been there, but it was not lit up that way it is now. None of the runes that you can currently obtain activate the podium. We tried wormsinger, agonarch, the three Court of Oryx runes, and a wormfeeder rune. I thought maybe one of the blackhammer runestones that you could get back when TTK dropped would work, but neither of us had one and dismantling blackhammer did not yield a runestone. That brings us to the present. We're really scratching our heads here. Neither of us could find any answers online, but I'm not sure we're the first to find this. Hence, this post. My friend is posting about this on reddit as well if anybody is interested. I will provide the link as soon as possible. Let me know if you have any answers!

I can promise you it does nothing. I have explored that 'rune holder' as you put it, and it does nothing. It also lights up when you get into the thrallway chest room. This has happened since it dropped. Sorry to ruin your quest xD

I know what it means and it's nothing special I would recommend doing the last TTK campaign story mission (regicide) and scan the three statues things start getting clearer while you progress deeper in the hive lore.

Its just the door lock/handle thing. You didn't actually get to use it though as the door would open by itself. Its just a part of the scenery.

Its always been there. People in my raid used to say you had to scan it with a ghost to reopen the door if you got locked inside after doing the hallrun. This is of course, false. But it was there.

Alot of us thought the same back when ttk launched, no one has discovered any secret use for it. Just an old raid accent that they brought forth to the dreadnaught.

1 ReplyIt lights up to open the door thats all it does. If you get into the room before it closes and look at it its not lit after it closes and the game realizes a guardian is in the room it lights up and opens. Sorry to be a ball buster but thats all its there for.
