Each character should have a gun that is unique to them, and is built up as they progress.

Maybe you get a quest and as you advance, you unlock different mods to equip to your specific weapon.

That'd make for a fun quest, for sure. It could introduce them to this crafting system.

Edited by Enderium: 2/14/2016 7:26:46 PMYou would start with the frame of a gun, and find gun pieces as common-exotic drops, increasing in rarity with each tier. You can only use one exotic piece, either the barrel, receiver, stock, scope, magazine, or 'special'. Of course these pieces would be found in all rarities, but the exotic pieces add certain exotic effects. -You need every single type of piece (barrel, receiver, stock, scope, magazine, and the optional special (which governs element). -Crucible and other PvP game types would have a small chance of dropping pieces as well.

You would have a gun that progresses with you through the game, but also let's you choose between other guns. You could also add a small chance to gain a random component upon dismantling a weapon too.
