Anyone else kinda disappointed with Star Wars Episode 7? (SPOILERS AHEAD)
The guy and girl main characters were kind of meh. It seemed like the trailers were building up Finn to be the one destined to learn the force, yet it ended up being the annoying female that is amazingly lucky and bullshit. I mean, how is it she basically mastered the force enough without any practice to use the mind tricks and even fight again Kylo Ren's mind searching force trick? Since when did she learn how about how to do all these tricks? Overall, her character just annoyed me and I'd rather Finn had been the one with force powers. Also, the movie was pretty good, but it was like I was just watching Episode 4 made in 2015: you have a "Obi-wan, you're my only hope moment" at the beginning as well as what is equivalent to the scene where leia's ship was boarded in Episode 4, there's a planet destroying weapon threatening the rebel base, and there's a trench run. Some of the jokes were decent, but it seemed like it was trying really hard to ride the nostalgia of the old movies with jokes like the trash compactor and what not. Overall, the movie had great special effects, beautiful scenery, and wasn't that bad. I'd probably watch it a second time around.
• It took what I loved from the original trilogy and the new one and put it together. So in MY opinion it's amazing. Would've loved to see Kylo kick ass though.

  • A couple things I was dissapointer in -the plot of finding Luke. The entire movie should have focused on this instead of shoving in star killer weapon for every one to deal with( it was a great idea but it should have been put in episode 8 or 9 instead). The ending to was horible r2 d2 waking up at the last minute magically having the remaining piece of the map that's a load of bs. What they should have done is have the characters search for the missing piece instead of blowing up a planet. - A couple of the new characters where disappointments. Ray was alright and exceeded my expectations. Finn was okay but sometimes I felt that the movie was trying set him up as comic relief when I would have preferred him to be more badda$$. The pilot (I forget his name) the movie should have at least showed a scene on how he survived the crash instead of giving us one sentence. Kyle Ren interesting personality but they need to make him way tougher. Captain phasma... this girl is a joke and should have been scrapped from the movie.

  • Majorly. It was a huge let down. People saying it was as good as the original trilogy must be high on multiple drugs.

I agree. The interrogation scenes looked like kyloren was trying to make his captives puke or something. It just looked dumb

    • Star Wars movies have never given all the answers. Rey clearly had flashbacks throughout the movie, and Leia, Ren, Luke, and Han were obviously very interested in her when they interacted with her. So it's clear that she is important in some way. I didn't see it as her just mastering her way through the Force. It seemed as if she kept remembering things. She was clearly trained with a lightsaber at one point.

    • Duuuuuude your reasoning for not liking the movie is the same as mine, except everyone thinks I'm an idiot or something.

I give it an 8/10 because it did its job but it was not very creative and had tons of plot holes or wtf moments

        • I liked Rey, but she was a bit of a Mary Sue. Then again, so was Anakin, really, except with more angst. I could buy the fighting-skills and the technical know-how and even the instant piloting skills, but the lightsaber battle stretched my suspension of disbelief. Simply put, she did too well against Kylo, whether or no Darth Tantrum had just gotten noscoped by Chewbacca a minute or go.

          • Listen man, I get finding a few things you didn't like and being knit picky a couple of things, but as a fellow Star Wars fan I implore you. Don't be the super fan who dissects the movie piece by piece seeing things he/she didn't like. Just don't over think it. I went on Christmas Day, and when I left I had to go to a family dinner. My first thoughts when stepping out the doors of the theatre were "-blam!- I'd rather watch that again and again all day!" I mean can we not be happy enough that Star Wars is back? Like I literally almost shed a tear reading that big yellow intro, hearing that music, it was so nostalgic and great, not to mention I didn't know anything about the movie!(minus trailers). Star Wars is back, it's pretty damn awesome, and I loved the movie.

          • To me it's like the Jurassic World of A New Hope, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I went into it expecting to just be entertained, so I wasn't disappointed. One of my misgivings about the movie includes the mind trick thing. It makes no sense to me that she would know the "protocol" for doing it and actually pull it off with what is presumably no training at all. Fighting against Kylo's influence and finding out his fear makes sense, but that's because those don't really require the finesse that I imagine forcing someone to do what you want does.

            • Kylo's role should have been a female character. There are too many male sith lords. A version of Assaj Ventress would have been much better.

              • I feel like Fin will end up learning the force as well, maybe not as strong as the girl, but still learning it. Remember when Kylo Ren was about to board his ship in the beginning after the attack, but stopped dead in his tracks to look at Fin? I feel like he sensed the force in him, since Fin was able to make the distinction that killing all the villagers was wrong and stand up to them by escaping, I definitely feel like he'll have to ability to learn the force, they're just building up to it you know? Like, why show us everything awesome in the first of the new movies? It'll just be even cooler when he learns it later on. As for the Rae(Ray?) being so proficient in the force though not trained, you have to take into account that her father is presumably Luke Skywalker, the one who restored balance to the force. (I REALLY believe he is her father since his lightsaber has been passed from generation to generation and then called to her). It was like a do or die kinda deal, it didn't work the first few times. As for her being able to keep Kylo out of her mind, the way I took the character is that he's not a Sith Lord(yet) he didn't come off as anything more than a child to me. Someone who knows about the dark side, and wants the power, but has to many issues and lack of discipline to be a truly powerful Sith yet, so her natural talent in the force comes from the strong lineage she has in it. Just my opinions, I loved the movie and can't wait for the next one.

              • Kylo was not a good antagonist. Got his ass handed to him on several occasions; he should have had at least 1 win. It does borrow quite a bit from IV but idc it was different enough. Great movie much better than the prequels!

                • I loved Rey. However, this movie had way too many deus ex machina moments. I thought overall it was a pretty mediocre movie. I agree that the special effects and scenery were very well done.

                  • I think Rey is suppossed to be lukes daughter so it would make sense that she would be naturally gifted in the force like luke and anakin.

                    • I completely feel the same way with it being episode four from 2015, I'm fine with rey being the Jedi of the two, but I feel like her learning some powers could have been done a lot better. The film was sooo fast paced, I was happy with the amount of back story we were given, but I felt like maybe it could have been a bit longer, with some more time devoted to the talking scenes, especially with Finn and rey, the two main characters were barely in a scene together that they weren't running around. Otherwise I though it was a good film, I definitely enjoyed it but I wish I hadn't had spoilers about kylo ren being Han Solo's son and killing Han Solo
