Extinct Animals

This one is called the Great Irish Elk, and it was one of the, if not the, biggest species of deer that ever lived. Native to Ireland, they were 2.1 metres tall and weighed nearly a tonne. There antlers grew up to 2 metres in diameter. They appeared 400,000 years ago, but the most recent remains found in Siberia dated back to 7700 years ago. And plus, humans aren't the reason they went extinct! Natural selection and their antlers being to big for the Irish landscape are the reason they died out. http://cdn-6.itsnature.org/RIP/images/irish_elk2.jpg Here's the skeleton and human comparison.
